I don't post on here usually but I have a question for you ladies. I had testing done and I will need to take progesterone also. So my question is when did you start taking yours? Before BFP or when you found out? and How long are you supposed to take it? I have had 2 M/C one in May and one this past month. So I am glad we found out what our problem is. Thank You!!

I think everyone can be a little different. For IVF I started right after "O" and then I'll be taking it until about 10-12 weeks. I think the 10-12 weeks part is normal. My progesterone is actually very high right now, but they are leaving me on it.

I got my BFP on a IUI cycle, so I started at 7 dpiui. My P4 was 9.1, and my RE did not feel it was high enough. My RE wanted me to take it through week 9, but my OB decided to go through week 11 for safety sake.
To the OP - Congrats!!! I can not wait to stop taking them either.
Yay!!! I have 8 1/2 more days until I'm done with mine. I told MH last night that I'm counting down the end the first tri with my progesterone bottle. lol

I started after ovulation (a few days after trigger shot). In order to be allowed to stop, I had to get a BFN via blood test (it can stave off AF). Once PG, my RE and OB had me stop at 8 weeks. Apparently the latest research says the placenta takes over progesterone production by that point. That is the earliest I have heard of people stopping, but neither of them had any reason to take me down a risky path and both are very experienced and instruct new doctors, so they keep up with stuff. I was an emotional wreck about stopping, but the truth is that my fatigue REALLY abated when I stopped (extreme fatigue can be a SE of too much progesterone).

My sore butt is jealous!
ETA: it's best to start taking it right after O.
