And here's the thing. I understand why the south wanted to break away. They wanted state's rights. Did those rights include racism? Yes. But they wanted a say-so. Racism was a motivator, but it wasn't the reason. State's rights were. No, I'm not a racist. I think racism is wrong. But I am able to separate the emotion from the issue and look at it objectively.

They wanted the right to own other people and force them to work for them. That's the "states' right" they fought for. To pretend otherwise is pretty ridiculous.

Look, like I have said before, I was a History major in college (along with Elementary Education) and am the mother of a DS named Nathaniel.  There was a whole bunch of reasons that the south wanted to secede and slavery was a huge part of that.  I will not go into a dissertation  on the civil war but she said that she named her child after Nathaniel Bedford Forrest.  The name Nathaniel is common enough that those of us that are not very familiar with the history of the KKK have no idea of the founder's name and have no negative connotation.  But the person that goes out of their way to point out that they named their child after this disgusting person, well, they are pretty disgusting too.  And to be so uneducated as to think it is ok to announce this on a public chat board, well it just shows that many racists are so convinced of their own views that they have no idea it would insult others.

The parents who named their children after Hitler and other Nazis (in Massachusetts maybe?) had their parental rights terminated.

They cleary didn't have the best parental judgment.

Google it ambvran, and consider yourself warned.

I don't normally post here, but I couldn't pass this up without commenting!!

These parents picked a name, similar to the ridiculous name you are considering (similar meaning and tribute to a historic nightmare) and they lost their children. Hope you don't get too attached!

Actually, to clarify - the parents didn't lose their kids because they named them Hitler and Aryan...the third one was Goebbles...I think? The names only put these people on a map when the grocery store clerk didn't want to put those names on a birthday cake. The reason WHY the kids were taken away was because after the CPS started looking at the family closer, they found abuse/neglect.

So, the implication that Ambervan will lose her kid because she named him XYZ, therefore she shouldn't get "attached" is wrong. If that was the case, the state where they live would be more of a gestapo-lover than the parents who actually named their kids Hitler and Aryan....you know...."children belong to the state"-kind-of-ideology that was very much in effect during nazi Germany and then during communist regimes? Luckily, in America, just because you name your kid whatever...even Adolf...doesn't mean you can't raise your kid. BUT, if you abuse/neglect your kid - that's a different story.

Basically, the names were a big red flag that the parents were dumbsh!ts who had no business raising a child.  Of course there were other issues beyond the choice of names.
