Not your average sleep issue...help

I posted this on 9-12 as well...

DS sleeps through the night but moves CONSTANTLY in his sleep. I could stand at his crib for 10 minutes and watch him roll over, roll back, partially sit up, lay back down, pull a blanket over his head...he never wakes up but this can't be good, restful sleep and he's gotten skinny lately and I'm worried there is a connection.

And yeah, it could be that walking = skinny, so maybe its nothing but I'm worried.

  • My kids are pretty active sleepers, too. I can hear them in there banging around while I am up. As far as I know, most kids flop around way more than any adults do.

Perhaps your house needs to be a bit quieter so that he can settle into a deeper sleep pattern? Is there a TV near his room that he can hear?

  • He is upstairs, away from us. But there is a CD playing (the same one since he was 9 wks old) and a noisy fan in there. I wonder if all the sudden its too loud? I thought maybe too hot too but with the fan, I doubt it.

  • you know...maybe the whole new skill of walking is also leading to restless sleep? I have read that kids practice new skills sometimes unintentionally, and I can for sure say that my kids both went through weird sleep stages whenever they forst sat up, crawled, stood and walked...

I hope very much that it's nothing- your doc will set your mind at ease.

oh- I also noticed that my kids pork out for a couple of weeks RIGHT before they slim way down and get a little taller- its so much more noticeable since they get chubbo and then all of a sudden, skinny!
