Trouble TTC

Provera question ... frequency?

Just came back from my first RE visit. I'm trying to re-digest everything now so I'm sure I'll have a few more questions!

How often do you usually take Provera? With my GYN, I use to take it twice daily, for 5 days. But I'm RE wants me to take it once daily for 10 days. Just wanted to see what other people have done.

Re: Provera question ... frequency?

  • I took one pill for 10 days. If i have to take it again in a few weeks i am going to ask about the 2 pills for 5 days in hopes to speed up the process.

  • When I took it with my OB I took it once daily for 10 days.  AF usually showed up 2-3 days after the last pill.

  • Thanks. I guess I feel like I want to get that part out of the way so I can start the rest of the plan! Plus, I know how I react when I take it twice daily so it'll be a bit of a guessing game taking it once daily.

  • some people take prometrium twice a day as a suppository, because prometrium is used to help support pregnancy. Provera isn't safe for pregnancy, so the instructions your doc said doesn't make sense. However, some docs use prometrium to bring on menses as well (like mine does, to be taken orally).
