Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???

  • This is weird to be doing these now, but I like it.  Smile  I will just dip my toe in the water for now until I feel more at ease with how things are progressing ;)

    1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? I will be 7 weeks on Monday

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Still nervous until I get past the first tri, but otherwise just super tired and could nap standing up if you let me.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  I go in 4 weeks so hopefully I can just breathe a sigh of relief until then.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  Getting this nugget to grow! ;)  And knowing I need to take progesterone supplements until my 12th week, it's a little scary to me.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there?  I have been pretty much having all the same things that I used to eat prior to being PG (except for caffeine, wine and sushi).  I have never been much of a coffee drinker to begin with and I don't drink soda so I'm not jonesing for caffeine at all.  I had a half of a roast beef sandwich today...nervous if that is bad or not Indifferent

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites?  I haven't ventured over to that yet.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? i warm up the deli meat. at this point, the doctor said eat anything i want. i've been avoiding raw sushi. but i haven't been eating healthy either.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? too blah to go online these days.

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 1 week from 6mo

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? nope.  I posted about his 2 teeth, they are still making their way all the way in.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nope.  Jack goes in on Friday - I will be out of town on work - DH will have to take him.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? can't think of any.  I think I forgot to post - Jack sleeps with us.  I don't consider it a challenge but it has made our room unorganized b/c we just put both our mattresses on the floor and have a big floor bed in our MB.  I sometimes put Jack over on his mattress and he crawls over to snuggle in his sleep.  melts my heart.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? mostly.  I did eat some "soft" cheese sometimes.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? use to be diapers.com I like blogs for crafty stuff but can't think of any right now.  I like land of nod and janie and jack for splurges (thanks MIL)

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work? he is self employed - if he isn't working he doesn't get paid so he worked!  He took the day of the birth off (Friday) and 1/2 day Monday.  He probably could have taken more but he had a big trial out of town 1 week later.  My grandma would come hang out with me a couple of days a week.  DH's family (mom and sisters) came for a week or so.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 38 weeks on Sunday, wow!(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling great, sleeping well although still a bit sore (feels like I'm bruised in the publc area a bit) and thrilled to be on mat leave.  I love being able to relax and tinker around the house and reflect on my pregnancy, it's been a wonderful experience. (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Tuesday for my weekly check-up.(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Hmm, no real challenges that I can think of... wondering when it will happen maybe? :)(5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? Having a bit here and there.  My Dr. said one cup of coffee a day is totally acceptable and I've done that since 12 weeks or so.  I haven't been too strict I would say. (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? When I first discovered; mamabargains.com, babysteals.com, greenbabybargains.com I bought a few things but I've cooled it down since then.  There are some good deals though!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    6 months, 3 weeks old

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

She said "mama" for the first time, two days ago!  Now she's saying it all.the.time.  It makes my heart smile...it's literally the last things she'll say at the end of the day and the first thing in the morning!  So sweet.

She also has not one, but two teeth poking through on the bottom front gums!  She had her 6 month pedi appt. on Monday and measures 28 inches long and nearly 23 lbs!

On a side note, my MBA application has been submitted and I had a phone interview with the application coordinator yesterday, I should hear if I am in or not sometime next week. *fingers crossed*

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

She's up for her next one at the end of October...no shots at that one!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Teeth...she's already bitten my finger...right where the nail meets the nail bed...OUCH!  Luckily, no nipple biting while nursing...thank goodness!

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there?

I avoided it all...even before TTC (except sushi while TTC) and for the most part, avoid it now that I am nursing.  I do have about 4 oz. coffee in the mornings and have had sushi but not a lot of raw fish, mostly rolls.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites?

    Amazon.com and momsmilkboutique.com

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work?

He took two weeks off and was off school at that time too.  It was SO nice to have him at the hospital overnight and at home for the first 10 days.  My mom was with us too and she was a great help (still is)!

    (8) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?

TTCers:  Which cycle are you on?  Where in the cycle are you?  What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 16 weeks, 3 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Hmm. Thinking, thinking... Oh, I know! We're working on unswaddling. It's been a little rough but is getting better!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next Wednesday - a follow up with a physiotherapist to make sure Will's neck turning exercises are coming along well.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Designing a tattoo. Stick out tongue

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? I avoided most of them, but I still ate some lunchmeat and the occasional cup of coffee.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? Umm...does Amazon count? Australia doesn't really do online shopping. *sigh*

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work? He had a month off, and that was AWESOME. He got one week of parental leave and then used three weeks of vacation time that he'd saved up just for that occasion. A month is fantastic if you can swing it, but if not, then 2 weeks is probably good. Smile Oh, and I don't really ask friends/family for help. If they stop by to visit then sometimes I'll get them to hold a baby, but I don't call them up specifically to help.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 26 weeks tomorrow!  can't believe i'm almost in 3rd tri...

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling good, though I've been really. sleepy. every day this week.  Wanting to take naps morning, afternoon, and night!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 2.5 weeks, for a regular appt and the 1hr glucose screen!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Not getting enough sleep.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? I try to avoid them all, though there's been a rare bite of goat cheese or even blue cheese - oops.  and i've had some tobiko on cooked sushi (like a spider roll).  i've only had deli meat about twice, microwaved before eating it. was never really caffeine or alcohol drinker, so that didn't really require effort to change

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? I've peeked at the deals sites now and again, but haven't gotten to the point of checking any of them regularly! Most of our stuff is from Amazon...

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work? MH gets 12 weeks unpaid (FMLA) or vacation time.  He's planning to take at least 2 weeks, but then we don't know, so i'm curious what the mamas recommend!

Don't worry - it really isn't a big deal unless the cheese is unpasteurized, and most of the soft cheese in the USA is pasteurized. Smile

yeah, that's what i tell myself too.  but my friend put together a cheese plate once, and i noticed the manchego was made of raw milk!  if i hadn't been reading every label, i would have just eaten it.  who knew that hard cheeses could be made of raw milk too?  so the whole "avoid soft cheese" thing is a total crock - it should just be "avoid unpasteurized milk and cheese"...and it really annoys me that nobody says that and instead makes it super confusing!

kind of like how everyone insists on calculating due date by LMP - well, the cycle where we conceived was almost 40 days long - good luck with that.

WHY do medical professionals and writers insist on perpetuating lies? Stick out tongue

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  36 weeks!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? pretty good...some aches & pains but nothing too bad

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Monday to begin the weekly checkups

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  not really a challenge, but nervous the baby is going to come early.  If the baby comes on or after my due date I can stay on maternity leave until after the new year, but if baby comes much earlier I don't think we can afford it & baby would have to go to daycare right before Christmas.  Not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but just not what I was hoping for either!

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there?  I don't eat deli meat and hardly drink alcohol so that wasn't hard to skip.  I had stopped diet coke when we first TTC and I had switched to caffeine free even before then.  So caffeine wasn't too hard to give up, but I would still have some on occasion (especially when I discovered Icees cured my m/s!!).  I eat sushi but only cooked stuff...though I do miss raw fish!!  And I eat soft cheese (haven't had blue cheese) but I eat goat & feta - but like Lisa said, more of a unpasteurized problem than a soft cheese problem.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites?  i haven't really bought very much.  we wanted to wait until after the shower to see what we still needed & even now it is kind of a wait and see until we really can figure out what baby needs (again, I think not knowing the gender helps keep my spending at bay!)

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work?  DH doesn't really get an official time off.  He has a week of vacation he could use, but he also has a really flexible schedule so he may go back to work pretty quickly, but he will still get to be home a lot.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 3 weeks, 2 days

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Henry gained almost a pound in one week!!!  We were very happy, since he was making up for losing his 10%, then not gaining it back in the first week, and only gaining a little bit in the second week.

As far as me.....well, I have good days and bad days.  I definitely feel the "baby blues" now and then (like today).  I don't think it's PPD, since it does come and go, but I have days where I cry a lot for no real reason.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? In a week and a half for his 1 month appt....wow, time flies!!!

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? We've definitely had some fussy days.  I'm learning to deal with them.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, delimeat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bithere and there? I did really well in the 1st and 2nd trimesters, but ended up eating deli meat near the end kind of a lot.  I love ham or turkey sandwiches!  I did always microwave it, though.   I don't drink caffeine in general, but I did have a tiny bit near the end because I was having terrible headaches, and it really helped.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? Amazon and diapers.com

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work? He took off a week and a half.  Even that wasn't easy, since he doesn't get vacation at all, so it's all lost income.  We did plan for it, but didn't feel comfortable giving up more than that at such an expensive time.

  • 1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 1 yr and 3 weeks-ish and I'm 9 weeks pregnant today!

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Pretty much like I could throw up at any second. I haven't actually vomitted,  just the nausea feeling all.of.the.time!

As for Bella, she's pulling up on EVERYTHING and she's getting very brave about letting go... walking is on our future and I'm very afraid!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Mine is a week from Monday and Bella's is August 30th.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Trying NOT to use the doppler at work. I've read that you can't hear the HB from the outside with a doppler until at least 10 weeks. I'm not experienced at using it for finding baby HB's so I keep telling myself not to go there but it's RIGHT there at work and so tempting!

Bella's been STTN from 7p-5:30a- that's record at our house! She does sometimes wake up crying in her sleep and we just leave her and she falls back to sleep within about 10 mins. I do wonder though, why she cries out.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, delimeat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bithere and there? I don't really eat lunch meat or sushi or drink soda so those aren't big deals for me. I think the biggest challenge is finding something I can eat that doesn't make the nausea worse after a couple of bites. I think the hardest thing is not to eat runny egg yolks, I LOVE Them with fried eggs! I wonder what the chance is of actually getting salmonella from that... any ideas?

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites? I don't do a lot of online shopping...

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work? She was born on a Friday and he went back to work Tuesday. She was born early so we hadn't even really talked about how long he should or would take off. I wish he would've been able to take longer but his boss was kind of a jerk about even him taking 2 days off!! With this baby he owns his own company so it will be easier for him to be around when I need him and he can adjust his schedule based on our family needs which will be really nice!

My mom and stepdad flew in the day after Bella was born and stayed about 5 days, it was really nice to have their help with cooking and cleaning! My mom is a great help with that kind of stuff. I think the biggest/nicest gift someone can give you after you have a baby is a home cooked meal! I would have given the gifts back in a heart beat if someone would have dropped off lasagna or something!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 9 months, 1 week

    (2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? he'll walk a little if we hold him hands, and he is proficient at eating cheerios and puffs by himself (although he is hot and cold on purees, you just never know).

    (3) Next appointment date?  9 month appt at the end of the week.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? it continues to be separation anxiety - he screams while he can't see me taking a shower, oy.

    (5) Are/were you avoiding all potentially bad foods (sushi, deli meat, caffeine, etc.) while pregnant, or are/did you still having a bit here and there? I had one cup of (caffeinated) coffee/day, maybe one more decaf if I needed it.  Other than that, I avoided all the rest.

    (6) What are your favorite BR shopping sites?  babysteals.com, diapers.com, amazon, BRU, target.

    (7) Mamas:  Did your DH get/take any time off after the baby came?   How much?  How much and when would you recommend?  How do you ask for help from friends/family to come by while your DH is at work?  I'm in a different situation - DH has been out of work for a few years now, so he was going to be the DCP. He was home with me all the time, except when he went to class (he's taking 2 classes/semester at the comm college) or worked a side job.    I just called people in the beginning to ask when they wanted to come visit!  But most of them had offered to help when I needed it, so it wasn't a big deal, and I was more than happy to have extra input.
