Success after IF

neck rash? treating irritation in the folds...

It seems like irritation/rash in her little neck folds is common, but I wasn't sure if I should just leave it be or if putting something like aquaphor or a&d ointment on it would help.   Aside from keeping the folds as dry as possible, did you guys do anything else to help treat this?
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
Because we're fancy like that.

  • H didn't have the neck rash, but he'd have issues in his armpits. I'd put a little a&d on it and it seemed to help.

  • Aquaphor worked ok, but California Baby's Calendula Cream cleared it up immediately.  The stuff works miracles!
  • Cal had nasty yeast infections in the folds of his skin last summer and we started out using a Rx anti-fungal powder, but it was tough getting the powder in there.  Eventually, his pedi recommended Lotrimin cream and it worked well.

    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).

  • Cora has lots and lots of rolls (aka folds).  When she gets a rash, we use diaper rash cream.  Works wonders
  • We use Boudreaux's Butt Paste.  Same stuff we put on his butt.

I am such a fan of California Baby! Their Calendula line is great. . . I also LOVE their diaper rash cream--it has an anti-fungal ingredient in it. The one time Grant had a horrible diaper rash, two different prescriptions couldn't get rid of it, but the California Baby diaper cream did! I keep it on hand now just in case. It is spendy, but, IMO, totally worth it when A&D isn't cutting it!

  • Diaper rash cream didn't work for us. We use a dab of Neosporin and that clears it up.
TTC#1 since Mar 2008. Serious MFI due to cancer. 3 cancelled IUI's, just about every test in the book. IVF#1 - BFP! Twin girls arrived 2/5/10 at 35w2d. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Oh -something to keep in mind... if your LO has irritation and red patches on folds, you might want to talk with your pedi to see if it is eczema.  Sam has it and has red, scaly patches on his ankles, the backs of his knees, and behind his ears and on his neck.  Sounds like you are probably dealing with something different, but I thought I'd mention it ;)
