Hawaii Babies

My "first" OB appointment today...

So I went in to see my OB today...again.  This time it was for my actual "first" appointment.  Things went well.  I'm measuring 6w3d today when on Monday was measuring 5w4d.  Today she did another u/s to make sure I had a viable pregnancy before she started to check me for everything else.  Well, I actually saw a heartbeat today! :)  It's so nice to know that things are progressing.

The only bad news is that my progesterone levels were a little low so she wants me to do a vaginal insert every night before I go to bed :(  Has anyone else had to do this before?  If so, what was your experience while on this?  I'm a little nervous to take this since I have no idea how I will react to it...I may just be paranoid which is usually true.

I was able to talk to my doc about the DHA too and it went well.  I still have half a bottle PNV, but my doc said it would be a good idea to take.  So I went to Target and bought their generic DHA supplements to take in addition to my PNV.

So, all is well so far hopefully it stays that way.  Oh, and my new EDD is 4/4/11.

Re: My "first" OB appointment today...

  • i haven't had to do the progesterone stuff but i know many women who have... it really isn't a big deal though i have heard you should wear pantiliners and be prepared for some funky colored discharge down there when you do use it!! oh and think of it this way...the prog. will only be getting your levels up to the normal levels as seen w/most pregnancies...so any emotional/hormonal state you're in will be considered "normal" or par for the course for a PG woman ;)

so happy to hear you got a good report :) hope things continue to progress well :)

Is this why I haven't been a hormonal nut case along with no m/s??  Should expect to see that all soon then?

Yes This is what I've heard from women who have taken it (no personal experience).

I'm so glad everything is going well!

  • sounds great.

no experience with the progesterone.  I wanted mine tested right away since I had hormonal issues but then I decided not to at the last minute.

  • Yay! Glad you got to hear the heartbeat! I have no experience with the progesterone either but I hope it's not too difficult to do. I just remember that it was like an exponentially bad case of PMS when I first got pg =P

  • I don't have any experience with progesterone either. Glad that everything's ok and your LO is growing as she should :-).FWIW, I had high levels of progesterone early in the pregnancy but never had ms or have gone crazy or anything :-). I'm almost 30 wks now and I still feel "normal".

FWIW, I had high levels of progesterone early in the pregnancy but never had ms or have gone crazy or anything :-). I'm almost 30 wks now and I still feel "normal".

This is comforting news for sure :)  Thanks ladies for all your support and well wishes, it certainly makes things a bit easier for me to know I have you guys to "talk" to ;)

  • YAY YAY YAY that you got to see the heartbeat!  Isn't is amazing? Big Smile  it gets even better in just a few short weeks - we could see the stomach, and spinal cord, and even feet and toes - at 12 weeks!  it's a bit mind blowing.  good luck with the progesterone!

  • YAY a heart beat!! I'm so thrilled for you! You are right behind us but not too far :) You are due the day after my DH's birthday so it's a good time for sure :)

My OB still hasn't drawn progesterone levels and I was actually thinking of calling them and having them check them. TMI but I've had some pale yellowish discharge which I've heard can be related to low progesterone levels... We'll see.

I can barely choke down my PNV let alone the DHA pills... it's bad!

I just might have a birthday baby because my birthday is April 1st, so crazy! ;)  TMI but I have to take my progesterone pills vaginally every night before I go to bed.  It sucks, but I have to keep thinking it's to keep this nugget a sticky one.  It does give me some funky discharge, but nothing too bad.  We will see what happens as I keep taking them though ;)
