Parenting after a Loss

***erinkate23***

hey!

saw your message below, but wasn't sure you would see a reply that far down the page...

i saw the post on AP about varicella and decided to stay out of it.  i am doing standard immunization schedule with LO since he is at high risk for exposure to all sorts of nastiness (DH and i are both physicians).  that being said - i have no problems at all with delayed immunization schedule like dr. sears.

i took care of a teenager who was in the ICU on a ventilator due to varicella encephalitis - so i would definitely get my kiddo the varicella vaccine.

  • Thank you, thank you!  I figured you'd want to stay out of the AP post; vaccination is such a hot button (for good reason).

We're also doing the standard schedule so far, minus rotavirus (I'm on remicade, 6MP, prednisone and have IBD... bad combo with a live tummy virus).  I haven't found enough compelling reasons to mess with the schedule yet.

At this point, I'm pretty much decided that LO will get the varicella vaccine.  My experience with the chicken pox was aweful, and my mom was even worse.

Again, thank you for the input!
