3rd Trimester

14 week u/s

I was wondering if it is possible to find out the sex of the baby at my 14 week u/s? Has anyone been lucky enough to find out this early? Thanks :)

Re: 14 week u/s

  • We found out at our 16wk. appt., and that was considered really early. So, most likely not...

Our OB told us that the only reason we even found out THAT early was due to the fact that our LO has a big pee pee....

  • I had a ultrasound at 14 wks and they said it was a girl but in fact at 21 wks it is a boy.....no denying that.
  • Nope. The ultrasound tech could guess, but not very accurately.

The only way to really find out that early is to have CVS or some other type of genetic testing.

  • My doctor was very confident that we were having a boy, and he was correct at 14 weeks.
  • I was told a guess at 15 weeks, but not to go buy anything yet.

The sex was confirmed at the 20 week anatomy scan. I honestly didn't believe it until then though, 15 weeks is still very early. I would wait If I were you, because a guess might just drive you crazy!

    Good Luck!

  • they told us at our NT scan at 11 w 5 d that most likely it is a boy (from what she could see) but not to go out and go shopping just yet.  It was confirmed at 16 w 6 d that he was indeed a BOY!

  • It seems like if there's a visible penis then they can tell you boy (obviously), but if there's no penis, you cannot be sure it's a girl since the penis may not be sticking out there enough to see yet.

  • The ultrasound tech guess boy at 12 weeks and it was confirmed at 20.  However, we didn't assume we knew what we were having at 12 weeks and did not buy a single thing that wasn't gender neutral.

  • With DS, they told me boy around 15 weeks, and obviously it was right.

This time, my NT "guess" was girl, and it has been confirmed several times since.

  • At our 12w NT scan, they guessed boy. At our 16w kidney ultrasound, they guessed girl (but told us not to shop yet.)

It's a girl. But you're gonna just have to wait it out.

  • i found out at 15 weeks..
  • Yes, if you are having a boy. No, if you are having a girl. At 14 weeks I had a 2D/3D u/s and the tech told me she was 80% sure it was a girl and 20% sure it was a boy. At my 18 week appointment/ultrasound my doctor confirmed it was a girl :)
  • At that point, it's just a guess either way.  An educated guess, but still just a guess.
