This is just my small, petty vent for the day, so thank you for just letting me get it out.
I had my NT Scan yesterday and things were great, and the u/s tech "guessed" it was a boy. We ALL know that a gender prediction based solely off ultrasound at 13 weeks is not something we need to count on 100%. Also, I am excited no matter what I get...I will take anything, as long as it's a healthy baby in my arms at the end of these 40 weeks.
That being said, my mom was at the appt with me yesterday and she is just running around telling my immediate family and my DH that "it's a boy" and acting like it's set in stone. This REALLY bothers me. I am planning to find out for sure around 17 weeks, but if my mom acts like this for the next 4 weeks, I don't know what I am going to do. How do you tell your mom to chill the heck out?? She literally has convinced my dad, brother, sister, and my husband that it's a boy and everyone is calling the baby "he" and they are BUYING boy stuff.
Maybe I'm being silly...it just bothers me.
Re: Getting just a little irritated
I completely understand where you are coming from. It's very frustrating.
I'd tell her that you understand how exciting it is, and how excited she is, but she needs to keep this "guess" private. Explain that it's not at all set in stone and you'd really appreciate being the one who decides what news to share and when. And that it hurts your feelings when she does this. If it was my Mom, I'd also tell her that if she doesn't dial it back she won't be getting anymore early info and she'll have to wait for details when they are public.
Good luck! I hope she gets it and chills out.

This and save yourself the trouble and don't take her to future ultrasounds
, especially since she couldn't behave at the last one...
Yes, and when they say it's a boy - they're usually correct. But I would feel the same as you and wouldn't feel 100% about it until the big u/s.
You know, I honestly don't really even doubt this "guess" honestly, and I bet it is a boy. I just need to have the next ultrasound to 100% confirm it, and then I'll be okay calling it a "he" and things like that. But right now, I'm just not.
And you're right, no more inviting mom to ultrasounds. She got to see one, that was enough. I can show her pictures and I get DVDs from every single visit, so she can watch them later.
