We've been gently PT while at home this week, which means if he wants to wear his big boy pants at home, we do, and I remind him every hour or so to sit on teh potty. We're doing pretty well - yesterday we had 2 accidents and 3 wees on the potty.
But when we go out, e.g. to preschool, he goes back into his diaper. (He has yet to tell me when he needs to sit on teh potty.) Everything I read seems to say that it confuses them by going back into a diaper (which I can see). Am I making it difficult for myself by starting with half-measures do you think? Should i just go for it and cut out all diapers except for sleep?
Re: diapers or no diapers out?
I am also having the same issue and I think it is going to come down to just stopping the pull ups when we go out. My girls are pretty much naked from waist down when they are home, not by my choice, they rip every diaper and pull up off and just run around naked. But because of this they have learned to hold it and don't have any accidents in the house anymore, it has been almost 2 weeks and we are accident free. They run right to their potties when they need to go and go no problem. But when I take them out somewhere, they don't tell me, they just pee/poop in their pull ups.
I am still babysitting my BFF's 1 daughter for the next 2 weeks and she is still in the middle of potty training, so I am not forcing things with my girls until she is back in school. At that point (day after labor day) they will no longer be in pullups except for nap and bedtime. It is probably going to be rough for a couple of days or even weeks, but I am just going to deal with the accidents and get them completely trained.
