Regarding the yeast vs. ammonia rash.... how did you finally figure out it was ammonia? And what did the rash look like?
I am pretty convinced what I'm seeing is yeast, but you said you didn't have ammonia stink or anything so I suppose it is possible that could be my problem. Like I said before the rash goes away in sposies with antifungals/diaper creams, but if it truly was ammonia burn it would go away in sposies regardless, I guess.
How did you get rid of the ammonia? These diapers have been stripped & bleached multiple times by now, I'd be surprised if they had ammonia in them.
Re: ~~ Poonico ~~
I came across a post about someone's baby having an ammonia burn. Since the rash kept coming back after being treated as yeast I thought that perhaps it was worth exploring. Though I didn't have any ammonia smell, her urine was a bit strong when she teethed and then after she started on foods her pH seemed all of balance (I could be totally wrong, but something seemed to irritate her more none the less). I just tried treating it as ammonia burn and it worked.
At first I used some vinegar in my last wash cycle (mine happens to be a hot wash) and that took care of it.
Now I have just changed up my wash routine slightly and it has kept it away so far (been w/out issue now since like april 09 with my older DD). I have been using the homemade detergent. warm wash with 1 tbs, hot wash with 1 tbs then dry.
