Recs for OB to deliver out of Hunterdon Medical Center!

Hi All - I am newbie here! 21 weeks pregnant and moving 2 counties away. I would like to deliver out of Hunterdon Medical Center b/c of proximity to my new home, but my current OB only delivers out of Somerset Medical Center. I am looking for a new female ob. Anyone have experience with Dr. Lidia Vitale? Or any other recs for the area would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • I've seen Vitale...she is with the advanced obgyn group located in Lebanon and Flemington.  I am really happy with this group...Dr. Abasinge (spelling) is my favorite in the group but everyone has been kind.  They are really on top of things there and all the staff are really nice too.  Hope this helps!
  • Advanced OB has both male and female doctors.  Have you tried All Women's healthcare?  They have an all-female practice.  I'd think about them but mostly because Advanced has an insanely high cesarean rate.  My friend was a doula for a woman who used that practice.  The doctor laughed as he took the woman off for a c-section, tell my friend, "Don't worry - we have a 40% c-section rate."  I spoke to an L&D nurse there who said it's higher than that though.  Have you ever seen HMC's maternity ward?  Great choice in making a switch!!!  It's gorgeous there.  The rooms are HUGE with great bathrooms, fridges and a laboring tub at the end of the hall.  They even have a nice table in there so you and your SO can have dinner brought to you after the birth.   They can also do a car seat check for you right there.

  • Thanks for the info, so helpful! the 40% c-section rate def scares me b/c I want to do all I can to deliver naturally! I will have to check to see if the All women's healthcare participates with my insurance. Haven't seen the HMC's maternity ward but I have heard that it is beautiful and I am glad to be making the switch! Thanks again for the helpful info :)
  • Thanks for the update on Vitale :)
