Anyone know of a home remedy? I've been using the Desitin, but it's pretty bad, and she won't even sit down right now. I've tried letting her air out for a while, but she still won't sit down. Any suggestions? Is there any instant relief secret?
Have you let her soak in a tub? DS has a pretty bad rash right now too and I soak his bottom in the tub for about a half an hour with some Aveeno moisturizing baby wash (It has a calming effect).
Its at least less red when later on. When he was in the NICU they made a super paste that was like three different butt creams mixed together...but Triple Paste works the same!
I always let Landon soak in the tub, and use Buttpaste on him. That stuff is amazing, it always clears him up overnight. Desitin would always make the rash worse when we first tried it.
Apply vaseline (petroleum jelly) over the coat of desitin.. Be sure to give her frequent baths during the day and let her air dry. If it doesn't improve over 2-3 days call your doctor!
Desitin Maximum Strength is the only cream that works for us. Other then that I would let your LO soak in a bath, try napping without a diaper (line the crib with those washable waterproof pads, also you could use a warm wet washcloth for diaper changes rather then wipes.

Thanks ladies. I logged off to do bath and bedtime. I put a little johnson & johnson on the wash cloth and started doing her body (minus the rash area) and she started screaming as soon as the soap hit the water around her diaper rash. I felt so bad, I yanked her from the tub and we went right to bedtime. I'm going to do the baking soda bath in the morning.
Our pediatrician suggested putting DS in a warm bath with a little bit of Dreft in the water. It sounded odd to me but totally worked. And then for butt cream she had us start using Triple Paste. Hope it gets better.
maloxx on a cotton ball. it neutralized the acid. Also, rinse her bottom off with water instead of the wipes & consider in the future switching to a dye free/perfume free wipe. I can only use target up&up sensitive on DS.

I second the lotrimin. My daughter had a bad rash and after a week of the usual treatments, the ped's office said it was probably a yeast diaper rash. I started using lotrimin and putting baking soda in her tubs, and finally after another week it is clearing up. Ped's office said if it doesn't start looking better within 3-4 days of usual treatments it's probably yeast and needs to be treated with an anti-fungal.

Thanks again!
I brew my own
1oz Neosporin
1oz Lotrimin
1oz Hydrocortisone 1%
2oz Desitin
mix it a together and put a bit of maalox/mylanta in it (not too much or it will be runny)
We also make our own wipes for diaper rash. Cut a paper towel roll in half and soak in water, baby soap and 1tbsp maalox.
