How old is too old for a onesie?

I am kind of feeling over onesies. Getting a squirmy bear dressed is a task in itself, and I also think they look kind of ridiculous on a toddler ---- but I hate seeing the top of his diaper hanging over the back of his pants. Now I'm pondering just buying some in 24 months for fall.

I am curious when others stopped using onesies, or when they plan to.

I quit onesies before she was one...I felt they were too much of a pain for me!

Gavin still wears them and he is almost 2.  I kind of like them cause then he can't get his diaper off.  And regular shirts always seem to ride up to his armpits when I am carrying him around.

We're just now phasing them out as we near PTing. I hate the diaper sticking out thing enough that I was willing to put up with the hassle of onesies

I also quit before 1. I didn't need the heat of the extra layer and it was just more of a pain in the buns than it was functional. If the diaper leaks AT ALL, its all over the onesie because its so snug which means a new change of clothes - grrrr. I say if you feel over it, quit and if you miss them, go back.

Onesies were such a hassle that I dropped them around one!  One last step in the getting ready routine...one less thing to buy

We're still doing them because I can't stand when her shirt lifts when I pick her up. I think everyone is different but if I had to give an age, then I'd say 5 is too old. I guess when they stop offering the sizes, I'll have to stop - most just go to 24 months, right?

I hate the diaper peeking out so N's still in them when it's not too warm.

I did buy a polo onesie on super clearance and he's worn it once because it's too babyish a look.

I haven't been using them over the summer, but I usually put a onesie under DS's clothes so he doesn't get daycare dirt (bark chunks, etc.) up in his business.  Plus, it keeps his tummy warm.    I have a bunch of 2T onesies, which I think are the largest size.  Once we start really potty training, we'll probably ditch the onesies.

DS was about 1 1/2 when we stopped using onesies. I got tired if wresteling him to get the snaps done. So we just do a normal shirt now. It also makes it easier to check to see if he has a poopy diaper.

This.  When we are closer to PT'ing we won't use them as much.  I especially need to use them at night because she frequently takes off her PJ's and if the onesie weren't there the diaper would probably go too.

I didn't do them as a separate layer after about six months. But I used colored ones as shirts with pants the fall before he turned two. I liked not seeing plumber diaper sticking out.

I have been debating this too. It would be so much easier, plus easier to check the diaper, but I like the look, especially under shirts like polos. I'll probably stop with the 24 month size?

Once they're semi-mobile we stopped using onesies.  It was like wrestling cats to get them snapped.  Have you tried folding the back part of the diaper over and tucking it into the jeans?  It lasts for only so long but then you can't see diaper butt.

We're still using any hand-me-downs we have - but I won't buy any more. For a few months now we have preferred tops and bottom (including jammies) whenever possible. The extra minutes it saves in wrestling him during a change is worth it. But again, we are not at the "Look Ma, I can take off my own diaper stage"...yet!

I will keep using onesies until they dont have them in his size anymore!    Especially now that he likes to put his hands down his diaper and rub his butt when hes bored... =/

I should also add that I think boys look better with undershirts on.  Even man boys (like dh).   Especially since Holden wears a lot of polos.    I dont put him in the shirt onesies much anymore though (like as a main shirt).  Cause I think they look kind of silly on him now.

We used onesies until Blake was a little over two. We stopped when he started getting interested in using the potty b/c they became a hassle.

We JUST stopped using them with DD this summer. She has really itchy skin and would scratch herself raw. I also liked that they kept her a little warmer around the midsection during out cooler months.

Honestly though, if you can't see any reason to keep him in them then just stop. 

Side note: Who knew so many people objected to the sight of diaper sticking out of pants.

We have one pack of 24 months that he wears every now and then. Mostly though he's in a-shirts if wearing a tank or t-shirts.

I quit when he grew out of his size 2 turtleneck onsies.  I loved it that they would stay tucked in.

I am a big believer in undershirts, so I will do onsies as undershirts until they don't make a bigger size. I have up to 24 months size, but he is in 18 months now, so hopefully I'll make it the the winter with them fitting him. I just buy the plain white ones and my favorites are the tank style. Think wife beater style. I too hate the diaper coming out, or seeing belly when lifting. I still put an undershirt on miss A too, I buy spaghetti strap tank style undershirts for her for under everything. ( except in very warm weather)
