XP: Outfits for pictures

DS and DD will be getting studio sessions done this weekend. I am thinking a light blue solid polo and khaki shorts for DS and for DD I have an adorable casual white linen dress, with both barefoot. Is is a bad idea to go with the white linen? Since it is linen, it's not bright white, but has a little bit of a cream tint to it.

What color background? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Re: XP: Outfits for pictures

  • I just had some pics done the other day and they suggested not wearing anything light or white due to it taking away from the ppl.  But I think that sounds really nice.  We ended up wearing med and navy blue but dd and I are very fair skinned so maybe with white, she would really blend/wash out.  I would ask the person doing the pics.  Ours were also done outside and I don't know if that makes a difference.
  • we actuallay had family pictures done the other month. DS #1 had on light khaki shorts with a light blue polo shirt, I had on a white/cream colored dress, DS#2 had on a yellow colored polo shirt and khaki shorts and DH had on a white and light blue colored polo shirt and khaki shorts and I think the pictures turned out great.  Both DS's have tans though from being outside all the time, I'm the most washed out/light in my family, but i don't think I looked washed out in the pictures.   Our photographer did a white back ground and also a summer looking background, we were going to do some outside shots, but it wasn't a very nice day.  Anyway I think your outfits would be cute together

  • I love barefeet in pictures!  I think the outfits sounds great.  For a background, you could do a light blue or the ones that have a mix of colors - we have done some that have different shades of blues and purples in the background and I love how they turned out.

  • The whole no white for pictures really bothers me. If they are a professional photographer they should be able to work with white.
  • If the photographer is really good and experienced with white then it is fine but if not the white will be blown out and lose detail.  If you post on Photography someone might be able to post some good examples of what to wear.  I hope she does not mind me posting this but if you check out her website she has what to wear suggestions that I found very helpful.
