New to the area! Please ... babysitters, nursery, etc. for 5 month old!

Hi folks ... a couple months ago I inquired about some childcare recommendations for my lo (we moved here from Chicago in June). Unfortunately, didn't really have a lot of luck. EVERY PLACE WE'VE TRIED HAS A WAIT LIST! I had no idea that it would be this much trouble.We've tried Rayne, JCC, Royal Castle, Audubon Primary, etc. all have lists ... everyone keeps telling me that mothers call and get on the list before their babies are born! What's the deal?!

We live in uptown and looking for either a nursery school recommendation or a babysitter (college student, etc.) who would be able to keep our little one for few hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (maybe more but T & Th would be the minimum). Any recommendations? You're more than welcome to pm me w/any names, phone numbers of possible babysitters! Please help!

You may want to contact Loyola or Tulane's child care centers. I'm sure they both have wait lists, but they also have college work study students who may be interested in babysitting for you. Good luck!!!

Yeah, its sad but true. I've been on lists since I was 5 weeks pregnant. Maybe try metairie ridge Presbyterian.
