I understand that you're really wanting a reaction from the PP whose 5-mo-old is in speech therapy (or anyone else who will bite), so here you go: I'm sure the speech therapist who evaluated PP's LO has some good reason to recommend therapy. I am not a SLP, so I don't know why. I only know what they told me about my DD. Is that adequate for you?
no. there is no therapy for a 5 mo old. bc they arent SUPPOSED to be talking. they are babies. so that therapist is a loon.
Oh my. LOL. Your brilliance obviously knows nothing about ST.
Don't be ridiculous. Punk is WonderMom. She knows all things about everyone's baby ever.
Babies live in a photo studios with faux wood floor and backdrops and moldings. They spend their days performing in small vignettes and drinking Slurpees. They would probably only require therapy if they didn't turn toward the camera when heard it click, as that would be an obvious sign of birth defect.
LOL-Punk's opinion isn't even worth considering to me anymore-she obviously has some pent-up aggression and is raring to take it out on anyone and everyone IRL....doucharama to the 10th degree. OP's, do a google search before trying to get a rise out of a mom dealing with a special needs child and doing her best to avoid future issues.
Punk, what a freakin idiot. WHY do you think they ask you all those speech, swallowing, development questions at your 2, 4, and 6 month appts? WHY do you think they have those appts?
Hey you know what I think is weird? When a mom of three girls clearly favors one over the others. tool.
Thanks everyone for the positive posts! I have to say that I was a bit disappointed that this post was the result of me trying to help a fellow mommy whose LO is about to start speech therapy. I was waiting to see if OP was going to come back- apparently not. Thanks again!

I like that those two have yet to come back and defend their idiocy. Do some research
commence backpedaling.
LOL, apparently not. They prefer to maintain their aura of perfection, even if they're only fooling themselves. OP exists to stir the pot, not engage in dialogue.

Sadly, Punk won't backpedal. She'll dig in her heels and browbeat the opposition, and every reason that the kid should have therapy will just be the mom "making excuses" for being dumb.
I think I'd drop dead if Punk ever admitted she had her head up her a$$.

wow. you are all sorts of win. why don't you try keeping your legs AND your mouth closed?

you don't mean the almost 4 year old that still wears pull ups, drinks from a bottle and uses a pacie, do you? no, that wouldn't be the one.

I can honestly say I have never ever seen punk come back when she is dead wrong. She is an ass! It is amazing how the dumbest people are the ones that think they are the smartest.
The ignorance is burning my eyes. I didn't know anything about the specifics of a young baby receiving speech therapy before reading the responses to this post.
However, I DID realize before reading that it had nothing to do with making a 5 m/o say mama. And that obviously the therapy is to help with related issues.
How could anyone be so effing dumb and insensitive to post this?

People need to think before they post. Did the OP honestly think someone was concerned about their 5 month old not talking? Seriously??
My DD is very advanced with talking, but she has swallowing issues, so she might need speech therapy. If we would have caught her swallowing issues when she was 5 months old, maybe she wouldn't still be eating only baby food at almost 14 months.
Your dd sounds like my ds. He's a very good talker and passed his verbal in his early intervention screening, but he's has a swallowing delay, since he was born, and is still on baby food, although he's starting to eat some foods with more consistency. Was your dd a preemie? Ds is a 33 weeker, and according to his therapists, this is quite common in preemies. Especially ones who've had feeding tubes.
To the op, please do some research before you post, if you're going to make ignorant statements. I hope irl you're more careful, or you'll wind up hurting people who have children with special needs. It's hard to have a child in therapy. Ds has two therapists, but it's constant work.

Thanks! I keep meaning to scale that down but never do. I'm not on TB enough anymore to bother.
I love that David turned out to be a redhead, and congrats on #3! I posted that to you before weeks ago but I don't know if you ever saw it.
Thanks.
We have no clue where the red hair came from. No one in our family has red hair, but we're both Scottish and Irish so I guess it's somewhere in the gene pool

Re: I am still perplexed by a 5 month old having speech therapy.
I agree

Because there's absolutely nothing to defend.
It looks like Dots&Loops and Punk had their asshats freshly pressed today and just couldn't wait to show them off.
