DS will not tell me when he has to potty! Tips please!

I take DS to the potty every hour and he has success, but I cannot get him to tell me when he has to go.  He only goes when I take him.  Any tips on this?

At least he's understanding that you pee on the potty - thats a good first step, you are ahead of me! 

Today is my 1st day potty training.  My DS does not want to pee on the potty at all.  He pees in his underwear and says "Clean, mommy" or "Uh-oh".  He'll sit on the potty with his underwear on, but not with them off....its going to be a long day.  

He's going every 2 hours on average, so at least I know when to try.

He will in time.  Remember he's still very young and the fact that he holds it until he's on the potty is HUGE.  Just celebrate that.  Until then, just take him, right now your doing every hour- try going 1 1/4 hour and if that's successful keep spacing it.  Perhaps when it hits 2 hours, he might tell you but eventually, whether its next month or 3 months from now, he'll tell you.  Also, trying encouraging him- if you have dry pants and you tell me you have to go potty you'll get a cookie/sticker/etc.

We're following the 3Day PTing fairly closely and have been reminding Sasha to tell us when she needs to pee or poop. We're on day 4 and most of the time she'll tell me "pee", I take her to the toilet and she pees. I think she's finally getting the connection and this way the ball is in her court to let us know. We do put her on the toilet before/after naps and bedtime, going out (if we dare to go out for 30 mins even), etc. Good luck!
