How do you run with a Jogger Stroller

I CANNOT push the stroller with both hands and run!  I have to switch hands constantly so I can swing the other arm.  Does anyone else do this?  I think it's so very hard to run w/out swinging your arms.  I ran a 5K Race last month with DD in the stroller and just alternated my arms...no biggie, I'm used to it.  I'm just curious to see what others do!!??

  • I do the same as you.

  • Ha, I've tried and tried to use our jogger stroller while actually jogging.  It dramatically cuts down on how far I jog!  I run with my arms on the handle usually, but feel like I have dinosaur arms when I do! :)
  • I hold on with both hands, but I usually run with my DH too, so we switch half way through.  It is really difficult to go from pushing her for the first half of our run and then to stop.  My DH holds on with one hand like you do and he seems to be fine with it.  Going up hills are what is killer for me.  It feels like the stroller makes it there a lot sooner than I do!
  • I have to push with both because it's a double and with the combined weight of my kids and the stroller, it's pushing about 90 lbs.   I don't do it too often.  Usually I get up early and run while everyone is still sleeping or while my husband and the kids are eating breakfast.
  • make sure you have a stroller strap attached to one of your wrists -  bad things can happen if you are running = fall or something happens and the stroller keeps going.  I don't even walk without the strap on my wrist.

if you don't have a strap- a dog leash does the trick easily.

  • I push with both arms.
  • I switch, but I think I tend to push with one arm more than the other (the right, I think).  I have trouble with hunching my shoulders up as is and it's worse with the stroller.  Hence why I have not done a ton of running with the stroller.  I do find if we're on pretty flat or slightly downhill ground, I can give the stroller a little bit of a push ahead of me and run a few steps before I catch up with it.  I use the leash, just in case.
