Queso fresco - soft white cheese from Mexico
Queso - rubbery, but yummy, cheese product best enjoyed with a nice game of football.
That people don't know the difference hurts my head.

Re: Yeah...:::headdesk:::
I am going to pick up some queso now
This exactly.
Having spent a good amount of two past pregnancies in a cheese specialty shop, let me assure you all that the real list of cheeses pregnant women cannot eat that they encounter in their day to day lives is VERY SHORT because raw cheeses aged less than 90 days (the real dangerous ones) ARE ILLEGAL IN MOST PLACES.

I like the dumbass who asks "What did people do BEFORE pasteurization????"
They died. In large numbers. Of many awful bacterial infections. Similar to what they did before penicillin.
And in a shocking similarity, before anaesthesia they suffered incredible pain during medical procedures!!
