We have our first sit-down with our agency next week (the 18th) and I am excited to meet them in person and really talk about what's going on. This time it's a group session, and then we will schedule our one on one.
We don't have to let them know anything about a pregnancy until the second trimester, so I plan to move forward for now, and hopefully get the paperwork done and the homestudy rolling, so we can go active again as soon as our baby (fingers crossed, fingers crossed) is six months old or so.
QOTD: We plan, no matter what, to get started on our nursery and training the Doodle well before our homestudy date.
We are awaiting our approval from the adoption agency. Meanwhile, we are moving forward with DSHS. Our classes start August 17th, and we are really looking forward to it. Our whole family has been so supportive and excited for us... It's wonderful.
QOTD: We have several extra things we have to do that are mandated by the state.
DONE: Fire extinguisher, cabinet locks, outlet covers, chemical storage, medicines locked up.
TO DO: Gate around woodstove, carpet in room cleaned, bedroom furniture.
We are kind of on hold right now. I feel like if we're not pregnant this cycle I'm really going to be ready for a big push. We're in a bit of a different situation than a lot of the girls since we (ideally) only want one more child. So if we get pg & deliver that's it....or we adopt. It makes it a little harder to move forward when we don't know what's going to happen.
Tick tock tick tock go the next two weeks....story of my life.
QOTD: We haven't gotten there yet, but I'm sure there will be stuff to do!
Connor Thomas 6/6/08. Discovered missed miscarriage at 17 wks 3 days, D&C 11/25/09.
Please, please, please - BFP 5/21/11, EDD 2/1/11. Beta@12DPO=52, Beta@14DPO=158. U/S 7/7/11 shows strong baby measuring a couple days ahead!!!
I would like to be part of this because we have decided with all of the complications that we will not be ttc after this.
I actually spoke with our AC last week to update her on my situation and right now we are still on hold.
QOTW: Our HS was on a Monday and we went super crazy with cleaning the house the weekend before, it almost looked like we were moving because of all the trash and recycling we put out (our garbage days are Fridays and yet there was so much that I had to steal the recycling bin from the foreclosed house next to us because ours was too full..which I did put the recycling bin and 2 full garbage bins in the backyard of the foreclosed house so it didn't look like we only clean because the AC was coming out). I put all of our alcohol and "adult" items in bins in the basement and we had everything ready.
Our AC never even left the living room.
The one thing they will talk about is safety, such as smoke detectors on each floor, fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide detector, etc.
Interesting that the AC never looked elsewhere...all that work!
3 visits and never went past the living room, by the 3rd visit I was def. more relaxed...though I did still give the dogs a special bone that kept them occupied for a good 30 minutes that way they weren't all crazy with a new visitor in the house.
Well, not much movement from last week - but we have decided to make decisions (or at least "wishes/priorities") in steps. So first step we are on same page about wanting an infant or toddler only at this time. We're open to both domestic and international, but I believe domestic will be how we go - but we're most interested in an agency locally that does both. I requested materials from two agencies in our area - and only received one so far that I really like. We (or really, I) eliminated two other agencies solely based on their materials on line - just didn't like the energy or attitude.
QOTD: really not there yet at all. I've been gathering info on what we would need to do.
m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks).
and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers).
IUI#1 and #2: BFNs
Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie.
Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011
I was just getting on to tell you guys that I spoke with CC today and lined up our initial sit down.
August 26th!
She'll talk to us about the types of adoption we are looking at, then lay out a time line of things to do.
I'm excited to get the ball rolling.
QOTD:
I am still not sure where we will begin with nursery prep. Actually, we probably won't do much until we're a little further in the process. (Since we won't be sure about the age of our child.)
And because of our current housing situation, there are already standards about smoke detectors, carbon monoxide and such. So a good cleaning and straightening should suffice for the beginning.
But I might change my mind after our sit down later this month.
Know that I'm so excited for each of you!
Oh, and I need to get reading. The adoption board suggested some books, and I'm kinda uninformed about adoption...so I really need to jump into research!
We haven't made any progress since the last update...Last week was dedicated to my appt with the specialist and hearing what she had to say...DH wants to wait until after we find out more about my uterus situation before going further into the adoption process...I want to keep moving forward...So we will need to sit down and have a serious discussion this week...
We are nowhere near a homestudy but we would need to finish up some house renos and make sure Barron is better trained...

I checked out a bunch of books from the library to start getting information together. This weekend has been crazy so I haven't been able to read them yet.
