And the end result was a broken front tooth for Max. He slipped and cracked his mouth on the edge of the tub. And I was RIGHT. THERE. Omg, talk about feeling like a shittymom.
We called the pedi just to be safe, and they just said to call the pediatric dentist tomorrow. He's fine and like 3 seconds later was laughing as usual, but my baby has a broken tooth!
Man, stuff can happen so quickly. Luckily it wasn't worse.
Re: So, we had a little bathtub accident tonight.
Poor Guy! Natalie has a itty bitty chip on her left front tooth. I don't know how/when she did it, but pedi said not a lot I can do. I did mention it to my dentist (not a pedi dentist) and he said let it fall out and a new one will grow in in several years.
But, I know that's diff. than a half of a tooth. I broke half (diagonal) of both of my front teeth when my permanent ones were in. My two front teeth are crowns. Glad he's okay!
omg, that is scary. I am always worried about DS slipping.
championmama, HOW the hell did you break your two front teeth!?
put the broken piece, if you found it, in milk until tomorrow
google it
I was wondering this same thing! And gibs, I would but it shattered into like 28 little bits. Instead I swept them off his tongue as he screamed bloody murder.
The exact same thing happened to us. I was inches away, watching attentively and couldn't stop it. : I'm sorry, it sucks!
When we took DD to the pedi dentist, they just shined a flashlight on her tooth and told us how much of the tooth was broken (DD's goes into the dentine a bit) and painted on some extra fluoride. They said it may or may not turn dark (it didn't, thank goodness), but that there was nothing they could do for it either way. They also said to avoid hard food for a few days.
I'm sorry!
Poor little man!
Not worth it, you can't really bond the two pieces back together, they won't stay and it'll just break again.
I was in 2nd grade. We were taking canned goods to the car for a benevolent drive at church. I don't remember if I tripped, or my sister tripped into me, but I went face first into the concrete. It was horrible. I'm such a tooth care-taker. I was so humiliated, I wouldn't go to school the next day. They couldn't get me in until two days after it happened (on a sunday).
I had to have 13 shots to pre-numb, numb, whatever else they do. and my dentist was an old man whose only employee was his assistant-wife. He did a good job. Those initial crowns lasted 13 years, until I was about 20 and then something about it turning blue and I had to have a root canal and then new crowns, which we knew would happen.
The second crowns I've had for about 13 years, too. No problems, except two years ago when I was newly preggo with Natalie I was chewing gum and helping DH clean the garage. All of a sudden I had this feeling like I was chewing a nail and thought I'd stuck one in my mouth before I realized my crown had fallen off. I was so scard they couldn't fix it b/c I was pregnant. They did and it's been fine. I remember posting on here about it and people thought I had lost my beauty queen crown. LOL!
Bath tub accidents are SO scary! I was RIGHT THERE when my son stood up (for me to pick him up!), slipped, and whacked his chin on the side of the tub. He has a gigantic scar on the bottom of his chin now and I felt awful! Luckily, kids are super resilient!
Hope the dentist can fix it!
