Re: soy cheese?

  • Soy cheese tastes and smells like sweaty feet.  I bought Daiya cheese/ for DS and it actually tastes really good!  It's dairy and soy free.  It melts and looks just like regular mozzarella.

  • Of all fake cheeses, Daiya is the best. It doesn't have any junk in it (it's actually soy-free!) and like pp said, melts like regular cheese, to a point. It won't melt the same in the microwave, for example. DH likes it, but I'm not a fan of any soy cheeses, so I stay away.

    Are you going dairy-free?

I'm a big proponent of staying away from things that are not "whole" foods, veg version or not.

  • the only one i like is actually tofutti cream cheese so not really cheese in the sense you're thinking but it is better than just edible, i like it a lot on tortilla chips. as for soy cheese in general - yuck.

Now - I can't stand it!!!!  I've tried a few of the "flavors" and at first liked it, but then couldn't hack it. And, I didn't have good luck getting it to melt. It turned to rubber on our pizza. :(

    Sadly - I can't find a good vegan "cheese."
