Did you wean? If so did you stop cold turkey? My office recommended that I wean because bfings can cause contractions. Besides being in horrible pain right now, I miss nursing. What did your doc say? I don't want to do anything to put this baby in danger either...

Re: If you got preg while bfing.......
do you have a history of m/c?
dd was 11 m/o when I got pg with ds... so not nursing a lot..maybe 4 times a day. she self weaned over the next 2 or 3 months. my ob did not tell me to quit nursing... she really said nothing about it. i did tell her I was bf'ing.
another friend bf her toddler throughout her pg... and then afterwards. tandum nursing.
I've never heard of an ob telling someone to quit nursing b/c of pg.
I had just quit and suspected pregnancy when my period didn't come. Actually, my husband suspected it. Natalie was about 9.5 months old and I got BFP 3w after stopping. At the time I was about 5-6w pregnant.
My OB did say that had I not quit, then they would rec that I stop. She didn't mention contractions but she said it's too hard to keep up with the caloric intake and nutrition stuff when trying to BF and be pregnant.
My Ob told me I didn't have to wean right away, but that he wanted me done BF'ing by the second trimester. His reasoning was getting enough nutrients and calories both for myself and the baby. As long as you don't have a history of pre-term labor, the whole nursing causing contractions argument isn't really an issue.
I ended up weaning about 4 months into my pg. DS and I were both over it at that point and it was really starting to get uncomfortable.
between #1-#2: I was down to nursing 3x/day... and gradually weaned from there. I was about 14 weeks pg when I stopped.
between #2-#3: My supply dropped so much I stopped completely by the time DD was 8.5 months... I can't remember how far along I was at that point though exactly.
I never had any engorgement problems because my supply naturally tanked due to being pg. My OB suggested being done bfing by the 2nd trimester, I don't know what I would have done had I not had supply issues.
I kept nursing for 4-5 months- then I was pretty over it. (it had been 16 total.)
I wanted a break between them. So I stopped.
B was 9 months when I got pregnant with #3, and he was still nursing quite a bit at that time (and wouldn't take a bottle at all). I kept nursing him until he was 15 months, and we just gradually reduced the amount he was nursing. I was 30 weeks when he finally stopped. It was really starting to hurt at that point, and I just needed a break between them.
My OB said it was totally fine to continue nursing as long as I wanted. LOL at being worried about getting enough calories. That was not a problem for me.
