I've been having some palpitations on and off for the last month now. I'm not having any swelling or anything. I was feeling jumpy today so I got my hubby to take my pulse & B/P and my pulse was 136! I guess I should mention it again to the OB next week but I don't want to go to a cardiologist! I figure it's just a little stress on my heart from the babies. Anyone else have this?

Re: Heart Racing...anyone with tachycardia?
I have the racing heart. My OB said it was from becoming dehydrated while I sleep. I feel like I am drinking so much water already but when I increase it even more it seems to help. She also said when it is happening drink water and lay on my left side. I have had days where I have laid down over an hour and I am still as high as 110.
I would love to hear what your OB says.
Yes, I have tachycardia and it's REALLY important that you get it checked out. Around 18 weeks my heart started racing and feeling like it was going ot beat out of my chest. My OB didn't think it was a big deal but I knew it was more than a "normal" pregnancy related symptom. I went to my PCP who referred me to a cardiologist. I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours and it showed my heart rate going up to 180 bpm over 800 times within that 24 hours. I was put on a low dose of digoxin and it was okayed by my OB. Digoxin does cross the placenta and it can lower the fetal heart rate. For me, it didn't have any affect on my girls They were both born at 36 weeks perfectly healthy and all the ultrasounds showed that their hearts were completely fine. If I hadn't gone on digoxin it's likely that I would have eventually passed out,
Make sure someone pays attention to it! Especially if you have feelings of light headedness and blood rushing to your head when the rapid heart beats occur.
