I had to close my account to make it stop. Thankfully, the account it was sending from was an old one. I felt horrible, though. It sent to everyone on the fire department at least once. (Along with everyone else).
Is it hotmail, by any chance? This is happening to a ton of people I know lately - all on hotmail, and it just happened to me last week. I switched to Gmail and deleted all the contacts and emails in my old account. It was a huge PITA.

It probably isn't a virus. You were probably "phished" which means that you were tricked into giving away your password on a web page that looked like the hotmail login but wasn't really. Changing your password should be enough to stop it. In the future, be very careful when you click on a link in your email to any site where you have to login (email, online banking, facebook, etc).
I had the same thing happen this week, although my account is through yahoo. I was so embarrassed when a friend contacted me about it. I had no idea! I changed my password and deleted my entire contact list. I saved my contacts as a word file. I didn't want to change accounts because I've had this yahoo e-mail for 12 years. Hopefully the steps I took will stop it.

Ugh! I just had the same thing happen with one of my old hotmail accounts, too! I tried changing the password, too - we'll see if it stops.
What a PITA - thinking I need to switch to gmail, too...
***sorry if I've emailed anyone - it wasn't me, so don't open it!****
