North Florida Babies

Weather in December

We just moved to Florida, and our baby is due in December;  what is the weather typically like in the panhandle around that time?

Re: Weather in December

  • It's very unpredictable in December, unfortunately. The default weather for Florida at that time of year is upper 60s, mid 70s. If fronts drop down from up north, they will definitely hit the panhandle first. So, depending on how severe winter is for everyone else, you could be having freezing temps at night and 50s during the day. The best thing to do is buy a little fleecy or sweatshirty jacket and a carrier blanket, and that way if you need it, you'll be set. January is typically the coldest month.
  • Ditto DP and congrats on your little one!

  • Yes, it's very unpredictable! I went in the hospital this past year in shorts kind of weather, the last night in the hospital it was low of 35!!!
  • I agree. Some times we spend Christmas in shorts, others we are all bundled up.
