Jesus...DH now in the ER

This past week has just been unreal for us....

He went to urgent care earlier in the week complaining of chest/side pain and a fever (similar to Nora's symptoms, but no elevated heart rate) and was sent home with some ibuprofen. They said it was likely a lung infection caused by a virus and would go away on its own.

Fast forward to today and DH is taking 800 mg of ibuprofen and still in excruciating pain, especially when he laughs, coughs, hiccups or anything like that.

He goes to urgent care again after work and they said it's some kind of inflammation of the tissue around his lungs and send him to the ER at a nearby hospital for an EKG, x-ray and possible CT scan depending on what, if anything, they find in the earlier testing.

They also want to do some kind of test to determine if there's a pulmonary embolism!??!

I know I sound like a broken record, but please keep us (and especially him) in your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, it's something easy to fix/treat so he can finally be out of pain!

  • It sounds like pleurisy, which is supposed to be extremely painful.

It's good to rule out the PE, but if it was that, I don't think he would have been able to laugh/cough/etc.

  • fingers crossed that its "just" pleurisy...and just is in parenthesis, because that stuff is HORRIBLE!  I had it and was narcotics for a week. My dad had it and was in the hospital for 3 days.

but its just inflammation of the lungs.

    (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • Wow, that is some kind of rotten week.

Prayers being said for all of you.

  • That's actually what they're saying...pleurisy. But they're trying to figure out what may be causing it.

I was just coming in here to say that my dad had something similar and it was pleurisy. He thought he was having a heart attack. Unfortunatly, there was really nothing they could do for him...just had to clear up on his own.

  • OMG Girl! ((((((HUGE HUGS))))))
  • all the good vibes I can muster headed your way.  hang in there!
