how many days do you go until you(not dc) see a dr for a sore throat?

My throat has hurt bad for about 2 days straight now. Hurts to drink or eat or even swallow. My neck muscles (outside of my neck) even feels stiff and is sore (like sore muscles). How long do you go before making a trip into the Dr?

 I thought maybe it was just sinus's but usually if its sinus's or a sore throat from sneezing to much it clears up within 24 hours.

For that, I'd say two days is plenty.  I hope you feel better!

Does it feel like your swallowing glass? If so it could be strep and it won't go away without antibiotics. I would go to the Dr. If you don't want to I would at least go to like a minute clinic. They can tell you if you strep and it only cost me like $10. So that is always an option.

I usually go right away.  I have horrible sore throats--infected tonsils, swollen glands, post-nasal drip--you get the picture.  I have a neti pot which usually helps out but if it doesn't work within a day or two, I'm at the doctor's office first thing in the morning.  Sounds like it's something more than sinuses.  If you see white dots on your tonsils, they're infected.  Some people can get through tonsilitis without seeing the doctor, I can't.  I'd go ASAP.

I usually go if it's still hurting the 3rd day. I've had strep throat twice in the past 3 months and both times the symptoms were completely different. It could be that?

i have had some hellacious sore throats.....i mean awul, to where i had ear pain and every part of my neck and head hurt.....went to the doc and swabbed me for strep, no step and i had to plea for an antibiotic.  two days into the meds i was 90% better.

dh just had something similiar about a 3 months ago, i forced him to go to the doc after having a fever for 24 hours and a sore throat so bad he could not swallow, still did not test positive for strep but he took an antibiotic anyway and it went away.  it was an actue sore throat in so many words.

 i would go to the doc and ask for something.  if it's not an obvious bacterial infection like step it could be a viral infection.........either way it will make you feel better.
