Why do people spell it sighn instead of sign?

I've seen a bunch of people on here lately asking if something is a "sighn".  Is this the way all the kids are doing it nowadays or is there just a coincidental misspelling of the same word by a bunch of people?

Once upon a time there was a FH who came over here phishing for info.  I'm pretty sure she wanted us to look into our magic 8 ball and tell her if she was KTFU.  She proceeded to tell us about all of her "sighns" and such.  We all tried to tell said FH that it was "signs" but she continued to put "sighns"

Apparently it's a show on Animal Planet called "It's Me or the Dog" and he is being trained not to eat the cupcakes.  I never saw it but they ran this clip on The Soup and I can't get enough of it.  I found this on Photobucket.  Search for Stains the dog maybe?
