I woke up this morning at 3:00 am and my underwear was quite wet...I changed them and went back to bed. An hour later the second pair was quite wet also. Both wet enough to notice but did not leak through to sheets or anything. No odor, just clear wetness. I got up and sat on the couch for awhile, took a shower, got dressed etc. Long story short, I went to the Dr got swabbed and examined and she said it was not amniotic fluid. She said to keep an eye on it, but it's so frustrating! I am walking around with wet underwear, but it's not urine and not amniotic fluid. I have also had increased pink tinged discharge and diarrhea.
Anyone else have this?
Re: Wet underwear but not Amniotic Fluid
Wear a panty liner and if it continues, I would go back to your doctor.
From what I have read, many women get diarrhea before they go in to labor. Did you tell your doctor about the pink tinged discharge? That is the most concerning part of this post to me...
It probably IS amniotic fluid, but there may have not been any when she swabbed. (That's happened to more than a few friends of mine.) I'm going to say it is a slow leak. If you go 24 hours from the point when you started leaking and you've had no certain signs of labor, go to the hospital's L&D unit and tell THEM. Let THEM scan you to check your fluid levels, and if it's low you'll know it's time to have a baby! (Hope your bag is packed!)If it is amniotic fluid, you need to deliver the baby because after 24 hours the risk of infection increases.
Mrs. M, I NEVER had diarrhea before I went into labor with my two and I haven't personally known anyone who has, either. It's common but not prevalent.
I had to wear a liner my last full week. I like you was convinced it was amniotic fluid. The good news is, it only lasted a week until my water broke....you'll need much more than a liner when that happens, lol.
I should point out that my OB tested it and it wasn't amniotic fluid, but it was super annoying. I agree with the pp's about going to L&D if it continues to leak for a day or two more.
