Repeat Question about Birthing Tubs

I know this question has been asked and answered ad nauseum, but the search function on thebump doesn't work so I can't find the last one ...

We put our name on the wait list for a birth tub at my MW's today ... it's a first come sort of thing since they have 2 for rent, and if its available when you are 38 weeks, you get it.  It costs $100 to rent.

I remember there being a great thread on here where people posted links to other sites where you could rent or purchase one for a variety of pricing.  I'm hoping you'd all be willing to post those links again.  I'd like to comparison shop and at least figure out what some options may be if this rental one turns out to be "in use" when I need it.

  • Perhaps this thread:

Also you may check with your local animal feed store... I believe someone posted that they got a horse trough for like $70, plus no shipping. That is what I am using, but I am borrowing it from another mother. It really is the perfect size and shape, plus it would be a cheap alternative if you needed it.

  • This is where I got my tub:

I bought the La Bassine.  It was $145 with the liner.  Great tub -- has handles where you need them and was the perfect size.

@ post above: I'd ask your midwife or dr. about the horse trough in terms of sterilization -- I wonder if there would be any concern about that not providing a clean enough environment during labor?  Obviously you'd clean it before hand, but still...

Several other women have used it, so it carries good vibes, LOL
