So the twins are 2.5 months old and I was just starting to get confident with my ability to take them out alone.
We went to Hobby Lobby today. About 10 minutes in, Henry was screaming. I picked him up and he spit up ALL over me. No big deal- I am supermom, I can handle a little spit up.
Fast forward about 5 minutes. I hear a menacing gurgle followed by a splat. You know the sound. I look down and sure enough, Henry is lying in a puddle of liquid poop. I calmly put down my shopping basket and bolted for the door.
Get the the Yukon (Perfect for diaper changes in the trunk!). Henry has poop literally up to his ears. His clothes, the Snuzzler, and his seat in my precious, precious City Select are all drenched in poop. I bag everything up, change him, and clean him off the best I can.
I decide to scrap my shopping plans and head home. Put Henry in his carseat. Pick Hannah up to put her in her car seat as well. Just as I pick her up, THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. She has a massive blowout all over herself, her stroller seat, and ME.
Needless to say, I spent the rest of the morning today scrubbing babies and strollers.
Thanks a lot, Pampers.
Re: My confidence is shattered (long but possibly entertaining)
Oh my gosh!!!!!! I am so sorry! What an ordeal! Isn't it nice having a car you can do diaper changes in, though?? I personally LOVE my mini-van for this very reason alone! Anyway, we went through a TON of diaper blowouts at that age, until I switched to cloth and have had 0 blowouts since.
But I can commisserate. In early spring, I took the twins by myself to meet a friend for story time at the library. And half way through- DD does the same thing! Huge blowout!! So I take her into the bathroom (since my friend was watching DS for me) and it takes me forever to get her cleaned up and kids are knocking down the door- sorry!! But worst of all- I didn't have any clothes for her!! How could I be so stupid??! She had been wearing a long sleeved onsie and cotton overall type outfit. So I peeled off the onsie but I had to bring her home in the overalls! They had some poop on them but not too bad- no one could see. But she looked like such a hillbilly baby with her bare chest/arms and overalls! Plus it was cold out! Luckily I covered her up with a blanket and we bolted. Haven't been back to story time since!

that sucks! you are a "double blow-out in public" survivor! we never had bad ones like that outside the house. vivi had a great one in the nursery once, all over the wall, and dh was alone with them
hope it never happens again.
You'll look back and laugh one day. At that age was once holed up in a Target dressing room BFing each baby. Once that was done, I got them back in the DSNG ready to shop, when they did the double dirty diaper. I think I was in the fitting room for an hour. LOL
Good for you on venturing out alone. It gets easier. For whatever reason, whenever mine were 2-4 months old and out shopping, they would poop. Buy some piddle pads and hope they work
If you ever want to get together at a coffee shop or mall, let me know. I'm finally getting settled and am anxious to explore the area and meet some other moms.
Hee hee, yeah, you're bringing me back! Ahh, good times.
I remember being in Sam's once with the boys, and I peeked in Oliver's diaper to see if he was poopy (from the bottom) and poo just oooooozed out all over my hand and his carseat.
Blech!

LMAO.
Thanking my lucky stars for my kids' tendency toward formed solid poops.
I'm sorry to say this but I just got a great laugh from this post! I so don't miss explosive poops!
It happens to the best of us! Don't let it get you down! Next time you'll be more prepared for an outing!
