It is NMS at all, and I do not get the pronouciation Say-la from this spelling what so ever! To me it looks like Cell-a, or maybe See-la, neither of which is pretty at all. I think your DD will spend her entire life telling people how to pronounce this name and repeating it over and over again because people will say "what?"
I have no problem with the pronunciation. I guess because I've read Psalms and it is a section in that book of the Bible. ?? I have heard of this being used as a name too though.

A friend's mother owns her own salon, and it's named Selah..I think it sounds pretty. You/she will probably be correcting pronunciation for the rest of her life though. But that happens to a lot of names, even ones you wouldn't think are that uncommon. My name is Dana (which isn't so unusual IMO) and I can't even tell you how many times I've gotten "Dan-nuh" (think Dan from Daniel)
It sounds like an ethnic name to me. I would pronounce it Sell -ah like Cellar w/ out the r. So you will probably have to tell people how to say it. That said, it's not bad.
I like it, and also pronounced it Sayla. Although I think Selah is much prettier, if you're concerned about people being able to pronounce it correctly, you could spell it Sayla.
This is what my husband wants to name our baby if it's a girl! But we would pronounce it SEE-luh. I liked it at first because my name is Sarah and it kind of looks similar to my name( a little bit ), but as time goes on I am not liking it as much. Who knows, my opinion might change by the time I have the baby. I do think it would age well though! : ) If you like it, go for it. There will be problems with people pronouncing it different though...
I think it's a beautiful name, and such great meaning. It's used in Psalms as sort of a crescendo, if that makes any sense. To lift praise higher. Not too girlie at all either!

This. I think it's a pretty name.

Re: Selah...
I read this as Sea-lah, also. I was thinking "Why isn't it spelled Sela like Sela Ward?"
I don't like it - especially pronounced the other way.
A friend of a friend of mine just named their baby Selah, and I wanted to pronounce it the way you want to, whereas DH thought it was "Cell-uh."
I think it sounds pretty as "Say-luh," and if you don't mind correcting people, it's nice.
I read it as see-lah, which I don't like personally, but I don't really have anything bad to say about it.
On the other hand, say-lah sounds like a slurred/accented pronunciation of "sailor" and for that reason is obnoxious.
