Potty Training

I think we have success!! No real "method", here's my story:

I'm not using a "method", just putting him in underwear. He's just over 2.5 and had shown ZERO interest about pt, nor did he care if he sat around in dirty diapers until about a month ago. I started talking about the "diaper fairy" coming and taking his diapers and leaving big boy underwear, stickers and treats for him when he was ready to use the potty. He started asking about a week ago when the diaper fairy was coming and when he could wear underwear. (not sure why this is bold, it wont let me change this, sorry!)

-->

I decided about 4 days ago that it was time for the Diaper Fairy to make her visit, so when he went to bed, I took all his diapers and put them in my closet and left him about 15 pairs of underwear, Star Wars stickers (he LOVES star wars) and a bag of mini marshmallows.

On day 1, he put underwear on immediately and we sat on the potty when he woke up, after he ate, and if he looked "suspicious".  He had about 3 pee accidents and pooped in his underwear as well.

Day 2: Stayed dry ALL DAY and used the potty with prompting and once or twice when he said he needed to. He pooped in his underwear, though.

Day 3:  He used the potty all day with only a few promptings, but mostly went when he said he had to go. NO ACCIDENTS AT ALL! Stayed dry all day AND pooped in the potty!

Day 4: We're halfway through, and so far, it's the same as day 3. He's pooped in the potty and has peed when he said he needed to go.

I almost dont want to jinx it by thinking it'll continue to be so easy, but so far... it IS easy! DD was exactly the same way. So, ladies, cross your fingers! But I think he gets it! I know a lot of people are stressed about pt their LOs, but I really do think that waiting until they're ready is important and so much easier and less stressful.

  • I was deathly afraid of potty training-and my twins are older than your ds-but it was so easy because I think they were older and ready, so I can relate :) I'm a teacher which is why I also waited until summer.  I bought the 3dpt but didn't adhere to it exactly, used diapers when I was out, etc., and they didn't get confused, etc.  Anyway, I think my younger dd will definitely pt earlier than the twins, but I am not going to push it.
