Vent: Target...I so hate their registry

We registered in store a while back.  Now when I try to log onto the edit my registry feature, it says my password and email addy don't match.  I have changed my password at least 3 times trying to get logged in and still they don't match.  I swear, as hot as I am, and as mad at my hubby as I am, I may throw this danged computer out the window in a few minutes!  Will my attitude get any better in the final 68 +/- days????

  • Oh, honey...just wait until you try to return something :) That will get your blood pressure going!

I had the same log in issues also!

  • I have already returned a diaper changing organizer and I swear, both my hubby and I were ready to scream by the time it was said and done.  It was shipped to us and didn't have a gift receipt, just a packing slip.  So they had to try and log me on, issues again, and them stumble their way through printing the matching gift receipt.  We didn't have quality return issues, just already had an organizer so I;m not so sure about any complaints you've read besides my logging in one!  (Supposedly you can print the gift receipt directly off your registry online at home - if you can log in that is!)
  • As long as you have a gift receipt or it is list on your registry you are fine. However, I did get some gifts from Target that were not on my registery and I was not given a gift receipt and they refused to take it back.

I found a solution....if there was something I needed to return without a receipt and it was NOT on my registry...I would just log on to Target.com and add it to my registry before I went to make the return Embarrassed Same thing works for Babies R Us.

Learned this tip from another thread and it works like a charm....

I worked in the guest services department for a few months over the holidays and they've changed their policies.

Print out a Gift Purchase log or whatever it's called at the kiosks, and they can take back anything on your registry and even other things as long as they're sold in the store that you are returning them to.

If you don't have a receipt and it wasn't on your registry, the gift purchase log might not work... but it's worth a shot.  After that you get $70 worth of merchandise to return using your license.

The difficult part is that each store carries different items and their online shopping is separate from in-store shopping so sometimes someone bought something at one target or online but you can't return it in the store that you are in.  Also, if somethings been clearanced out you won't be able to return it.

the problem with online purchases is target.com is run by amazon, not by target, so the systems don't match up.  On your packing slip it should say that you can't use this for returns and where to go online to print what you need

  • I had the same thing happen with my logon info. Apparently I have two accounts under the same email address- with 2 different passwords. It makes no sense at all.

  • My problem was that I had to do it in store rather than online at home due to not being able to log in at home.  I just don't understand how my email and password don't match right after changing it to be able to sign in!  I worked at Target years ago and their policies have definitely changed alot!

i didn't mean to hijack the post :(

but does it have to be marked as "fulfilled" to easily return it or does it just have to be on there?

  • My login was under Amazon.  And I was able to return gifts that had a price tag on it--they printed out the log and gave me a credit for $40 that I used on diapers and wipes.

  • I had no problem returning things to Target, without a receipt, that weren't on my registry. I don't understand everyone's complaints? I did have to use my registry to return them, but they weren't on there.. if that makes sense.
  • Sorry, just a lurker here... but I had that problem too.  On the Target registry website there should be an option to log in with your Target account or with your Amazon account.  When I logged in under Amazon with my name and password it allowed me on.

It does NOT have to show fulfilled...just be listed on the registery :)
