Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

When do you start chewable vitamins?

Just curious...DS is getting less and less interested in his high iron oatmeal and is picky about green veggies already...wondered if I should start vitamins.

If so, what kind? The Flintstones or the gummy bear ones? Thanks!

Re: When do you start chewable vitamins?

  • We just started Flinstones gummy ones about a month ago (18 months). That's when our Pediatrician recommended it. I'd call them to find out when you should start.

  • I asked at DS's 15month appt when we could start. DS is also a very picky eater when it comes to health food. Pedi said that it was fine to start now. I got him Disney Gummy vitamins, but I only give him 1 of the 2 recommended. When he is 2, he will probably get both.

That said, I would still ask your pedi what they think.

  • Our pedi gave us a prescription for liquid vitamins at DD 1 year checkup. They taste horrible and she doesn't really like them. So I was wondering this too.
  • At the rec of our pedi, we've been giving Tri-Vi-Sol liquid vitamins to DS1 since he was an infant, he must be used to the taste at this point b/c we have no trouble with him taking it; we give it to DS2 as well, mixed in his bottle.  Our pedi says Flintstones at age 2.
