Now that I know that StarryNight is here

Maybe I'll stay.

Quick intro:

My SD is 8, my SS is 6, and my DD is 7mo. They are undoubtedly the coolest kids on the planet.

My BF situation: I met them when they were 2 and 4. I married DH a year later. We have them a ton, and currently, we have them full time.

I typically post my questions regarding my older ones on the BF board, but it's only because I haven't found many 6-8yos here. Many of my posts are BF related, sure, but I often have comments about their age, school, whathaveyous.

In recent news, I'm teaching them how to skateboard, they start 1st and 2nd grade in the fall, and they are learning to do chores around the house (and they love doing it!).

And yes, I still think we need a school-age board. Big Smile

I haven't read your other post yet, but for real. It's so boring here that anything even a little bit exciting gets dramatic. You're welcome here, trust me. :)

And welcome shortyred. You're adorable and so is your baby!

  • Instead of starting a school-age board, maybe you ladies should just post over here! This was the original board for parenting before all the spin-offs and many of us do in fact have school-aged children. I myself have a 10 year old SD. There are moms of kids all ages (grandma's too lol,) so I find the conversations to be less repetitive. We could use some new blood over here anyways.....

  • Welcome to the board.

I myself have a 18 year old son and an 3.5 year old daughter.  Families come in all shapes and sizes over here.

  • I recognize you two from 6-9 months! Welcome!

  • Stay, stay, stay!  I just wondered BF because I recognize your name/siggy, shortyred, from lurking over there.

    My situation?

Single mom to an amazing three year old.    ExH and I split late last fall.   He has him e/o weekend.

And, uh, I  made the stupid mistake of getting my (then) 2.5 year old a skateboard for christmas.   What was I thinking?!?!  It is currently in hiding!

  • E starts kindergarten in a few weeks and B goes next year.  I also have one that will be a junior ::chokesupandcriesaboutit:: in high school this fall.
  • hey- doesn't hopefulmom also have older children? maybe you guys'll fit in after all!
  • Eh, stay but be prepared for occasional drama.  I have a 4th grader, 1st grader, and a preschooler.  There are other moms with school aged kids too so stay.  I'm so sick of spin off boards!

    .
  • ::tears up:: I feel so loved right now!
  • Hey!!!!!!

Sorry, again, for the confusion.  When I came on here a year ago, pg for my 2nd, while my 1st was in kinder, I tried this board first.  Why would I go to 1st tri?  Been there, done that!  But, seriously, at the time, this board was all about potty-training and "what should my daughter wear?  Help me pick an outfit".  Again, I couldn't relate.  My son was learning basic math, the difference between a noun, verb, and adverb, and researching Ronald Reagan.

So, alas, I wound up on the tri-boards.  At least I could relate to them with my 2nd baby.  I haven't been back since, but perhaps the board has changed since then.

you kind of sound needy. It's hard to imagine you were so unable to relate to other mothers of similarly aged children, (many of whom were/ are on subsequent pregnancies...) but the tri boards were more your speed?

    ok...

  • Hey and welcome. I'm a borderline lurker here (although some posters know me, I think!) and have an almost 6-year-old (starting 1st next month) and am expecting another one in December.

When they started a Pre-School board, I ventured over there and noticed there were quite a few people with older children asking for a school-age board as well.

I like hanging out here... but wouldn't mind a school-age board, too. Who says you can't be part of more than one board? ;-)
