I'm listening to nature sounds (or plan to). Low ocean and gentle thunderstorm/rain sounds. I tried relaxing through some BH/mild contractions to some soft folk the other day but the words kept distracting me.
i personally would like smooth R&B and love songs. i don't think i would like nature sounds. then i want some upbeat music for times when my energy is low.

My personal fave is Cristofori's Dream by David Lanz. It is the most beautiful collection of piano music and includes a fantastic version of white shade of pale. Makes me want to cry- in a good way
My doula told me that my midwives heard Enya so many times in the birth center that when one mom left her CD there and didn't claim it, one of the midwives took it outside and ran it over with her car!
I think that means it's a fitting choice though.

I'm going to be doing the same and I know one artist that I will definitely be using a lot of is Paul Collier. I first heard him on Youtube and I've been hooked every since.
You can buy/download his music right off his website.
My favourite is Jack Johnson and then Norah Jones, John Meyer, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Sheryl Crow, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Elvis...
All soothing songs (I've tried them out while taking a bath so I know which ones help me get relaxed and which ones don't).
Also, I remember reading somewhere that upbeat music can tire you out faster (it gets your heart rate going and stimulates your brain...or something like that), so I avoided anything upbeat so I can keep my energy levels up and not feel drained. I notice when I have upbeat music on at home, after an hour or two I feel tired and drained. Too stimulating...
Re: Can anyone rec some soothing/relaxing music to listen to while in labor

Ocean white noise though? Worked great for me.
Hope that helps!
