My 1.5 year old is with my mom today because of cold/fever.  Nothing exotic, just not welcome at daycare.

We are all invited to a neighbour's place for dinner tonight.  15ish people aged 1.5 years to 80 or so.

My mother volunteers that she doesn't think James should go as it wouldn't be fair to him or anyone else in attendance.

Really mom?  You felt the need to spell that out for me?  Didn't think I'd connect the dots that a kid who is too sick to attend daycare maybe shouldn't attend a social gathering?  Jesus!

My mom is wonderful and very helpful.  But she can be self righteous and condescending and passive agressive too.  And today, I just don't feel like hearing any of it.
