Baby Toys & Clorox Wipes?

Is it safe to use Clorox Wipes on baby toys? I can't find a really clear answer. I just wiped down all of B's toys that she spit up on with a wipe. Then I thought, "Oh sh*t, I hope this isn't toxic!"

((I used them especially with toys that have batteries or are fabric))

  • I would think it would be fine to use them, especially since there is a Clorox commercial about being able to use it on bottles! Try Google or looking it up on the Clorox website. I use Lysol wipes on DS stuff sometimes. I always figured once it's dry we are good to go! Now you have me curious and I think I will go look it up just to be on the safe side!

  • good question...

i just cleaned the exersaucer toys with clorox wipes. hope it's safe!

  • It's fine.  Make sure to let it air dry completely before LO plays with them.

We don't use bleach for almost anything at our house, though.  I throw teething toys and other hard items in the sink when I wash bottles and soft toys in the washer/dryer for the mostpart.

Most daycares wash their toys in a solution of bleach water.

I don't think toys at home need to be disinfected that badly, unless there's a cold or something going around.  But then, I think people overuse bleach and antibacterial stuff.  But then again, that's not what you asked :)  I'll get off my soapbox :)  Sorry!

  • I think they are fine. Like PP said, just make sure they are dry before giving them back to LO.  They do make eco-friendly wipes, if you are too worried.  I am sure those are safer. Also, BRU has pacifier wipes that I use on everything.

  • My understanding is that it's safe once it has dried.  Although limiting chemicals is probably even safer, I think sometimes you gotta just really kill the germs.

We had to see a specialist for an infection and he actually recommended our family taking baths with clorox in the water to kill any of the germs that might be on our body.  So much for our chemical free home!

  • I've often wondered the same thing especially since everything goes into DDs mouth right now.  Our church nursery always has us using clorox wipes to clean off the toys before putting them away.
