Free 7" cake from Byerly's/Lunds for 1st Bday

Not sure if any of you are aware of Byerly's/Lunds Free 7" cake for your LO's first birthday. All you need to do is bring in your LO's birth certificate the day that you order the cake. You need to order it 2 days before you plan on picking it up. You get to pick the cake flavor, frosting color and what you want on the cake (decorations, text). They told me that a lot of people use it for a smash cake.

  • I know I'm a long way from this, but do they accept a social security card? I didn't buy LO's birth certificate. Just curious.

  • I am guessing they will not take a ss card as it does not have the birthdate on it.

The person that took my order looked for a birth date, so a SS wouldn't work. Do you have anything from the hospital that proves the date of birth of your LO?

  • I would just spring for the birth certificate. You will need it eventually, no?

  • Kowalski's also gives away a free cake for 1 year old birthdays and you don't need the birth certificate (they didn't ask me atleast) and their cake is way better!

I agree, there will be many occasions throughout the years when you will need the birth certificate.

  • Yep we got it last year for DD's 1 year and it's a great cake. We got it from Lund's. That was her smash cake and then I got another small cake for serving. It worked perfect.

  • I would highly recommend getting a birth certificate. It seems far off, but when LO is ready for school they will need to see it.

lol I never really looked, but you're right, just assumed it was on there. I was planning on buying a birth certificate, but never got around to getting the sheet notarized and needed to get my boyfriend's name on it so I sent it in w/o buying a copy...I'm sure I'll get around to buying it eventually, just not sure when.

And who knows what I'll be doing for LO's 1st birthday, I still have over 9 months to go

  • Very cool about the free cake! We don't plan to have a smash cake but a free cake will be a nice addition to buying one.

We didn't get a copy of the birth certificate when we sent the form in either but there are several ways to get a copy that aren't that difficult. It takes a few weeks to get it via fax, mail or online. In-person at a service center, it took about 45 minutes as I went over the lunch hour and had to wait in line. The link to the Hennepin county website page was super long so I shortened it...https://tinyurl.com/25qlx7d

If you fly with your LO, make sure to take their birth certificate with you as airlines can ask to see it before letting you check-in/board the plane.
