I had this discussion with a friend the other day, did your DH always "pull out" before TTC? We are TTA now, so he does now but even before being off the pill he would pull out to avoid an accident. Am I the only one?!
Pulling out seems so "college" to me for some reason, lol...no, we've never used that method. When I was on the pill we just had sex normally--no extra back-up method. If I had gotten KU by accident, we'd just figure it was meant to be.
When I was on the pill my DH never pulled out, we trusted the BCP, and if not we would be happy even if it happened. We would figure it was God's will.
Once I stopped BCP, I used VCF and he would pull out at an extra preventative method. But we only did that as a secondary precaution until I had 3 months under my belt of being off of BC.

We used the pull out method while I was on BCP. I guess I figured in case the pill didn't do its job there would be way less sperm trying to win the race!
No. If you are going to use the pull-out method, you may as well just consider yourself already TTC.
This! "Pulling out" is how my BFF ended up with her second baby. She was so shocked when she discovered she was pregnant and told me her H "always pulled out!". Silly girl!

I don't really remember what we did when I was on BCP (it's been over a year) but since stopping the pill we did use the ever so reliable pull out method (I say this sarcastically). One of those "we aren't really trying but if it were to happen it would be ok" things.

When I was on BCP we didn't. For a few months after stopping the pill we did, and also after having DD we did, until recently since we're trying for #2.
With my ex, we used the pull out method for 5 years. The last 2 years of that, I was on the pill. I was on the pill with DH and we just had sex like we do now, no condoms or anything.
Looking back, the pull out method was the stupidest thing I could have ever done. I agree with other posters, if you are TTA then I would use another method of birth control instead of just pulling out.

My DH did when we were dating in high school but once I got on the pill he stopped and we always just figured if it happened it happened and we would be fine. I was a stupid teenager and was lucky I did not get pregnant so young but it makes me wonder if I am going to have trouble TTC because I was stupid and never ended up pregnant.
Before TTC, I was on BC and my DH pulled out every single time. I guess in his mind he was doing everything in "his power" to not get me pregnant.?
And, I agree it was pretty "college".
We did use the pulling out method through the end of high school and college. We used condoms at first but after the first 2 years or so we went to the pulling out method. I was stupid and thought that was full proof lol (well for me it was, still no lo)
My husband does it to make himself feel better I think. Since this is my first cycle off BCP, we are technically TTA but if it happens we will be happy. I think he thinks that as long as he pulls out we are safe until we officially TTC. Whatever works! lol
We only did the "pull out" method for a very short period of time when we were dating right after high school. One pregnancy scare was enough for me to go on the pill after that, and I can't believe we were stupid enough to use that method of "birth control" for even that short amount of time. Oh, and I know someone who has only used the pull out method for "birth control" and she's now pregnant with #4. It obviously doesn't work!
No, I had never even heard about that "method" until well after DH and I got together (I was on BCP for pretty much my whole adult life). My friends at the time were all on BC and their BF's would pull out as an added measure of protection. Which seemed rather silly to me considering the effectiveness of BCP vs. the effectiveness of pulling out.
Before we were TTC, DH pulled out, but I was on BCPs. It was mostly because it was easier to clean up... I dont like that leakage feeling
This was us when I had my IUD but for the past 4 months we were TTA and only used the pull out method but we were also ok with getting pregnant during those months.
I was on the pill before, so there wasn't a reason to pull out, unless we didn't want to deal with the mess. Since we're TTA this cycle, we're using an actual BC method: condoms. The Pull and Pray method is not reliable.
I was conceived via the pull-out method... Yes, my mom told me that. In college, I did it, and she told me that was a BAD idea. She and my dad had only been married a few months and weren't planning on having babies so soon. Surprise!

My mom also told me I was a "surprise" because she didn't want anymore kids and then got pregnant with me. She skipped the part about what method they were using to TTA when she got KU w/ me and I'm thankful for that lol

I heard once in school that two healthy people using only the pull out method, will statistically, be pregnant within a year. Now that I'm TTC, and know that I have those same chances not using anything... it's not a good method, unless you're secretly hoping for a pregnancy. I personally know a few people who got children this way.
So I guess I am the wierd one! lol, I know it's not considered BC but we figured it would take a little bit of the chances out.
Thanks guys!
I'm weird right along with you. This has been our method for about 5 years. I have never been on the pill. When we used condoms he would pull out too. We also abstained from sex from what I thought was my window of ovulation.
Re: Let's talk about pulling out.
Nope, we've never used that method of "birth control". Or not not not trying.
Besides, the positions we get ourselves into it would be hard for him to pull out all the time anyway

Agreed.
Didn't you learn about "sneaky Pete" in high school??? Due to pre-ejaculatory semen sneakin' out you can totally still get pregnant.
That beint said when we were TTA we used condoms

Couldn't help but crack up at this!
Before we were married, DH pulled out. His choice, not mine. But, once we were married we just had sex.

I am confused as to how that is easier to clean up..........
With me I didn't like the vag leakage afterward. I'd rather it be somewhere else and I'd just wipe it up with a towel.
