Any ideas?

My family is coming to town in a couple of weeks (my mom, sister, aunt and 2 cousins) and I'd like to show them a good time, but I just moved here 2 months ago and don't know a lot of stuff to do. Besides the zoo and shopping, what do you suggest?

The rose gardens are beautiful! (Washington Park) and really that whole park is nice. Lots of places to walk. The Saturday market is fun, as well as the waterfront since you would be down there if you went to Sat. market. What else?....there's a great farmers market at the PSU campus. Sauvies Island is fun too. Multnomah falls isn't very far away (about 30 min from PDX). The Japanese or Chinese gardens are cool too, but you have to pay to get in. Hope that helps some!

Portland First

We always take visitors to VooDoo and they always enjoy it.  The OHSU aerial tram is also kind of fun, but there is little to do once you get up there.  A day trip to Timberline is also fun and they can ride the Magic Mile and explore the lodge.  I've heard great things about the St. Helen's interpretive center, but haven't been there myself.

multnomah falls is a great place to visit too. 45 min from town, and you can eat there and/or walk up the falls. if they drink, you could do a brewery, distillery, or winery tour.

The downtown Portland farmers market is on Mondays at Pioneer Courthouse Square.  That is always a nice place to hang out.
