Paying a relative for childcare?

We are lucky enough that my husband's aunt is a stay-at-home wife and has mentioned she might be able to take care of the LO when I return to work (at least a couple days a week). We know we want to pay her something for her taking the LO, but aren't sure how much is appropriate. Does anyone have any suggestions??? We are at a complete loss - help!!

Figure out what the going rate is for an in home daycare provider in your areas vs. a nanny and I'd pay her somewhere in between.  (It can vary substantially even between suburbs, so you really need to be specific and call ones in your neighborhood)

My MIL watched DD and even though she is a relative she is on a fixed income since she is retired.  We pay her about $25 a day which is about $250 every two weeks.  It's definitely a huge savings since the cost of a normal daycare would be a lot more than that but I would talk to your aunt and maybe you two can come to some sort of agreement.
