Morning
ladies! Here's your weekly due date check-in. If
information is missing or inaccurate for you, post with it below. If
you'd like to be added, post below with your EDD, place of birth, method and
team (green, blue or pink). And even if neither of the above apply to you, post
with your answer to the QOTW. Let's get to know each other better!
Congrats to:
mchell9, who I'm pretty sure had her baby but don't have date or stats.
And I feel like I must be missing others from the top of this list ...

Re: Natural Birth Due Date Check-In
Mchell9 did have her baby. Here is her update from PGAL:
https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/40533588.aspx
I am taking Bradley classes, following the Brewer diet, exercising-both aerobic and light weights as well as the Bradley exercises, reading as much as I can and I switched to a birth center to take pressure off having to argue against interventions. I've also hired a doula to help with labor support for me and for DH.
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
DH and I practice our labor positions and massage/relaxation techniques about once a week. That and on top of communicating our ideas/thoughts to each other and continuing to educate ourselves (we're still finishing up a few books), we're pretty much feeling pretty confident.
We wrote our birth plan together and turned it in, and so far we've gotten pretty positive feedback from it. Though, like our MW said, what we've asked for is "pretty much what they do anyway" - so that's good to know.
Congrats to Michelle.
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
Listening to my home study HB CDs everyday.
Doing tons of reading.
I also just started practicing my breathing relaxation techniques I was taught a few months back in my childbirth class.
Hired an amazing Doula and MW (I love my birthing team)
Talked to DH extensively about helping me keep strong and advocating for me in case I chicken out and ask for meds.
Practicing my pelvic rocks, figure 8's, watching my posture, etc..
Going to the chiro 1/week for regular adjustments.
Drinking my RRL tea to tone my uterus and Shepperd's Purse to help with bleeding during/after labor (I want to avoid pitocin as much as possible)
I also got a birthing tub and have it set up and ready .... from what I have read and what other NB moms have advised, water submersion is a great source of pain relief.
I chose to have a homebirth to avoid interventions as much as possible, though I know that a hospital transfer is always a possibility if things do not turn out as planned.
Keeping a positive attitude
)
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
I think the most important thing I did to prepare for my natural birth was to pick a midwife who I feel totally comfortable with who really supports natural birth. Secondly, I really took good care of myself during my pregnancy by eating right, exercising, being positive and having low stress. I think those things will have really helped the most to keep my pregnancy no risk and have everything be as normal and boring as possible (including going past my due date!) so I could have a home birth.
Right now I am trying to stay positive and talk this baby into coming out soon.
I did the Hypnobirthing course and still listen to my CD every night. I am doing a lot of positive self talk lately to try to keep my spirits up while I wait for him to be born. Other than that, I'm at the point where there isn't much left to do to prepare. I'm either ready or I'm not at this point. I have been getting more anxious as this gets closer and experiencing a little fear I haven't felt until now but I know that I can do this and everything will happen as it should.
I'd like to be added to the check-in! My official due date has been set for March 19. I'll be giving birth at the hospital (again) using the Bradley method (again) and we will be team green (again).
QOTW: I haven't been doing anything to prepare yet besides just envisioning what I'm going to do during labor for pain management, what I might do differently this time, etc.
The H and I will bust out my Bradley workbook when the time is appropriate and go through that again just as a refresher. I'll also begin doing the exercises in addition to going to the gym to work out, see a chiro regularly, read through NCTBW again, as well as Hypnobirthing (and listen to that relaxation CD every night) and maybe some other natural childbirth books like Ina May's if I have time. Eat healthy, keep my midwife in the loop and think happy thoughts!

Day Three
I just want to say that I GOT MARRIED THIS WEEKEND! Woohoo!
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
I have the Hypnobabies Home Study course. I've listened to the first CD, but I'm really waiting for the summer semester of school to be finished so I can really get into the Hypnobabies course. DH and I are on the same page as far as pain management. I have very limited options due to allergies, so he's more scared than I am. This is one thing I'll be talking to my Dr. about probably at our next appointment.
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
Right now, resting. I've been having inconsistent contractions for the last few evenings and so between doing housework and light activity I've tried to rest.
I've also been practicing breathing and conscious relaxing, and I've picked out a few relaxing CDs (mainly nature sounds...so soothing) to take with me to the birth.
It's the endgame now! It feels a bit strange.

Congrats Marinewife!
I am listening to my hypnobabies tracks nightly.
I hired a doula.
honestly? that's it. I'm such a slacker this time around. Just don't have the energy with DD and working, etc.
Congratulations Marinewife!
I will be doing Bradley classes and the Hypnobirthing self-study. I will also follow whatever advice my midwife gives me - I meet her on the 17th!
As I get further along, I plan to do hypnobabies. Right now, I am:
Getting weekly chiropractic adjustments, massage and acupuncture on a bi-weekly basis, taking prenatal vitamin, taking prescribed chinese herbs, increasing exercise routine again specific to strengthening my squatting muscles. That's about it so far.
Well, last time we did Bradley and I read a bunch of books. Not doing those things now. If we were in the States I would probably have done a refresher course or maybe looked into one of the Hypno- options. As it is, the only thing I'm really doing is trying to exercise most days (either walking or swimming, or sometimes both), and the occasional Kegel when I remember.
I should probably do more.

QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
Mainly reviewing Bradley books from last time. Trying to do the exercises. Working on relaxation (much better about that this time). And checking in here for beautiful birth stories
.
Here's an update on my info since I didn't know what baby was before.
kellog+1- Dec 12 birth center, Bradley B
QOTW:
I have been reading voraciously, exercising, eating healthy (although I must admit to lots of cheating on the weekend), seeing a midwife, taking bradley classes and trying to work through my body issues (i.e.I'm trying to convince myself that my body is not a lemon to quote Ina May).
thanks for adding me!
QOTD: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
- mind preparation: i'm thinking about it a lot. i'm focusing on positive birth outcomes, positive labor vibes. i'm thinking about how my baby will come out during labor. i'm meditating and practicing my breathing and relaxation techniques. i'm visualizing labor, birth and pp. i'm talking to my baby, asking my baby to do what she needs to do to birth naturally and healthfully.
- physical preparation: i'm back to swimming 2x/week and walking 2x/week. i'm sitting on my birth ball at home a lot. i'm stretching when i think about it. i'm taking hot baths in epsom salt to keep my body relaxed and limber. i'm getting regular chiropractic adjustments, just started weekly acupuncture and am taking a yoga for birth workshop this weekend. i'm drinking RRL every day to help tone my uterus and taking alfalfa supplements to keep my blood pressure strong. i'm getting good and regular sleep and rest.
- emotional preparation: i'm attending monthly ICAN meetings. i'm meeting with my hypnotherapist. i'm being brutally honest with myself, my husband and my birth team about what i want/need, what i expect, what i fear, what i'm looking forward to and what i need from each of them.
QOTW: I'm seeing my MW, drinking herbal tea, reading lots, going to start listening to hypnobabies soon (hopefully tonight), doing some Bradley exercises, and seeing my chiropractor.
My update: I had a fantastic MW appointment this past week, and scheduled consultations with my OB and perinatologist which my MW is planning to attend with me. I'm so thankful she's planning to come.
I think the biggest thing I'm doing to prepare is educating myself (and DH)! I have learned so much already through my Bradley class, but also reading on my own. I feel like the more I know about birth in general, what to expect, what to try to avoid, etc. the better I will be able to cope with what comes my way. Also I am hiring a doula, which I think will help a lot!
I would like to be added: Papa Bear's Bride, edd: 10/23/10, pob: home, method: birthing pool, team: blue.
QOTW: What are you doing to prepare for your natural birth?
Since this is my third baby (all natural so far, and a water birth already, as well), most of what I've been doing is a refresher course. My MW has provided educational videos on births and circumscision, as well as BF and several books with every visit. She is working with DH as to what to expect when delivering our son (since he will hopefully be the one to do so, though she will be here for any "just in case"s we may experience), as well as how to help me with the aftercare and how to help prevent PDD.
FYI, we're having a girl -- it looks like the G may mean team green, LOL?
So far, nothing! I'm just excited to have a different setting this time...I think I'll be surrounded by support even more so that I was last time, and last time wasn't bad, really.
