So, this is my first pregnancy and both my grandmother and mother had PPD, something I would like to avoid if possible. I really wish I could stomach just making a smoothie and ingesting my placenta that way but the more I think about it the more disgusted I get.
Anyhow, I found a local API member who specializes in lyophilization & encapsulation. She picks up the placenta shortly after birth, dehydrates it, encapsulates it and drives it back to you within 5 days .......... ALL of this for just $80. I am so thrilled!!
Anyone else look into this? If so, I am wondering what the prices are like in other areas, if you do not mind sharing, of course!!
Re: More placenta talk: Lyophilization & Encapsulation!
API stands for Attachment Parenting International .... go to www.attachmentparenting.org click on "Find local support group" .... click on your state and hopefully you will find a local group in your city. Contact the organizer and ask how you can join. In my area the organizer created a meetup group and that is how events/members are created and shared among all. Through this group I have found my Doula, my MW, My childbirth instructor, my birth photographer, etc....
PBi stands for www.placentabenefits.info
....to the pp who asked if she is licensed through PBi, she is not. I actually did not even ask her about her licensing, she came recommended from other people within the group who have used her services and I feel comfortable going with her whether she is licensed or not.
But for those who live in bigger cities, definitely check out PBi and see if you have a placenta specialist in your area.
GL to all!
This is where I started:
https://placentabenefits.info/specialists.aspI am in the Houston area and charge $150 (unless they live more than 30 miles from me, then I charge a one time gas fee of $50) for encapsulation.
It truly does help. BTW, I have worked with many a woman who say they cannot stomach the raw placenta, but are able to the way that my MW and I prepare it.
Immediately after birth, cut off about 1 inch cube of the raw placenta, dice it small, and blend it with a strawberry/banana/kiwi smoothie. You TRULY cannot taste, smell, or see it. AND, that is ALL that you need for the immediately pp energy boost, initial ppd warding, and immediate lochial staving. Women who can do this will find that their bleeding will slow down considerably within 1 hour, an energy boost within 15 minutes, and no problems with milk supply for the first week.
So happy to hear you are encapsulating. Very cool!
