how do you discipline the invisible friend?

When ds does something wrong he's been blaming it on his invisible friend.  We've been telling him that since we can't see his friend ds will have to be punished instead and if he doesn't like that then he should tell his friend to behave or leave.  Any other suggestions?

Would he listen if you told him he can longer play with his invisible friend?  I'm not trying to be funny.  I've not had to deal with an invisible friend yet.  I really don't have any other suggestion.
