Zumba?

My stepmom asked me to join a zumba class with her at the end of August. I was just wondering if anyone has taken the class before? I was telling my sister-in-law about it and she thought it would be too high impact...my next appointment is before the class starts so I plan on talking to my Dr. but I just want some insight from someone who has taken it. Thanks!

Re: Zumba?

  • Lurking from the April board. I skipped my Zumba class this week once I got my BFP and decided I won't go back during my pregnancy. It is pretty high impact, my HR definitely gets high, and I get really hot and sweaty while doing it.

  • I don't think Zumba is the that high impact, it is only as difficult as you make it.  You can ask the instructor to show variations to certain moves.  At my gym a large variety of people take it (age and fitness level).  In my first pg I toned down my cardio (step, dance, kick boxing) initially and by the end of the 3rd tri I was doing water aerobics for cardio.  hth

  • Thank you for your input!
  • I stopped doing it once I found out, each instructor is different and mine was EXTRA high energy and hard (and I'm in shape), but definitely ask your doctor! Mine told me it'd be fine, but my body told me no way.
